Those emails...

Friday, November 30, 2007

I do not always participate in "those emails" but this I thought was interesting.

Describe ME in one word.... just one single word.
Send it to me and to me only .
Then send this message to all your friends and see how many strange & interesting things they say about you.

Here's how to Play:

1. Hit the reply key and send me my one word.
2. Then return to this message , and forward it to
your friends (including me) and see what people say about you when limited to one word!!!

The Game is On!!!!!

I do not quite understand "The Game is On!!!!!" but I thought it might be interesting to see how people might describe me. So far I am:

1) Lovable (yes, I am a Mommy, I hope I am lovable to someone!)
2) Silly (thanks mom)
3) Complicated (? I thought I was fairly clear.)
4) Magnolia (I love that one!
5) Talkative (but, I was told that was in the 'good' way)
6) Fabulous (back at ya Jaci)
7) Bubbly
8) Bright (YEAH ME!)

As I read them all in that list it reminded me of a picture of me and Boo Boo La La, who is up sleeping off her stomach flu.

See how white, silly, bubby, talkative, lovable we are? Complex chicks! Who are these FAB-ulous women?

Try it on, you might like some of your words.

Twenty-nine, FINE~!

I feel like those girls in that commercial who are making up songs everyday for their air freshener...

I might want my money back! ;)

I knew it...I am socks, and not the Clinton cat kind.

Wednesday, November 28, 2007

You Are Socks!

Cozy and warm... but easily lost.
You make a good puppet.

One of THOSE days...again.

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

Have you ever had one of those days? I was thinking last night (through the throbbing migraine) about what I wanted to talk about in my blog. I had a really good idea, I think, and now it is no where to be found...so I have another idea.

What to get for Christmas?

I have my MIL in my husband's family drawing and my SIL in my family---well my bro too because I will have to help my hubby buy.

So, what do I get my MIL? She really is tough to buy for because her taste is so different from mine. Options are:

1) A sweater with some design on it...she likes winter scenes and snowmen.
2) A digital photo keychain? My FIL is tech savvy to a point, then she could take photos around and show off grandkids...
3) Really nice gloves and scarf? She never wears hats, but this could be fun in a light pink or camel? She likes those colors.

And my SIL, I think for her and my brother from the kids a NICE $50 (at least) restaurant certificate...then for her??

1) A digital photo keychain as a mommy brag-book?
2) Some cool books? She loves to read, any suggestions?
3) Bath products, although as a hair dresser she has tons of access to stuff.
4) ? My mom said no gift cards it is a cop out....

For my brother I think some more Batman stuff is in order....

Then of course some other little fun gift? ;)

I am sick.

lame post today. I feel like total crap....

We went shopping

Sunday, November 25, 2007

At church there was a notice about this sale for kids in North Minneapolis, as I was reading it T-Dogg suggested we donate.

So after Boo Boo La La's nap, she and Sar-bear and I went to KMart.

You donate small ($3-$5) gifts and this group puts together a shopping experience for kids who really have no money to buy gifts for their family. They register to shop, pay a dollar, and get to choose five gifts for members of their family.

Remind me NOT to go to KMart next year. It is not cheaper, just cheap.

We did get these cool dolls for $5 for a group of three....

Fa la la la la

Homework is done.

Saturday, November 24, 2007

I finished my homework for the week, so I am blogging and listening to Boo Boo La La. She is not napping---and it is not entirely her fault. I decided to take her to the mall and Tar-jay Boutique during lunch and traditional naptime.

Oh well, sister Sar-bear is home so she will be a more fun munchkin tonight.

Love to all!

Mommy(who keeps thinking it is Sunday!)

Now we are in the holiday spirit

Friday, November 23, 2007

Jake and Boo Boo La La were excited to get going for the eating yesterday:
As always, Granpa enjoys having the Boo Boo La La around!

And today we began the annual Christmas Festivities in the yard!

Tomorrow THE TREE GOES UP!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thursday, November 22, 2007

We all are healthy and happy. Everyone ate a ton of great food.

Eggbake and fruit this morning at Mom's.

Turkey, etc. at my In-law's this afternoon.

Love to all!! Gobble gobble.

Tomorrow...tomorrow...I....

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day! My sister-in-law always says...Oh you can bring the veggies, pickles, olives...

Bottoms UP!

At least tonight we had fun....J-Dogg, T-Dogg, Boo Boo La La and I watched "Wild Hogs". Very stupid fun for people who have Harley's.

I am a bad bad mommy! :(

Tuesday, November 20, 2007

We got up this morning and I had to get Boo Boo La La right into her clothes...she HATES that! She prefers to dawdle until after breakfast to get her pj's off and into clothing. I had to bribe her with her Hi-Five t-shirt.
Thank goodness that still works.

We went down and got Jacob and took off for his ortho appointment. Then, since we were done so quickly I decided we should go to McD's...and sit at a high table...and SMACK!!!! Down went my Boo Boo!!!!!

ARGGHHH!! AWWWWWWWWW! OOOOOCHHHHIE!

We calmed her down, put ice on and packed up...taking J-dogg to school. While he talked to her and made her giggle I called the doctors...we go in very quickly...doctor, McD's and school are all within a mile of each other thank GOD!

Guess what? NOTHING is wrong...no bump, no bruise, NOTHING!

I was strangley weirded out by this and kept asking the doctor, "Are you SURE that she is fine? I heard her head HIT the McD's floor? She was screaming. ARE YOUR SURE???"

She said, no bleeding, no bump. Unless she thows up or something seems "odd" she is just fine and that happens.

HOW IN THE H - E - double toothpicks did I get so lucky.

I started to shake and cry. I had been calm prior to this.

Now, she is totally normal.

What a day and it is only one pm. Deep Breaths everyone. Keep reminding me, deep breaths.

Some days...

Monday, November 19, 2007

Some days I feel bad because my step-daughter has no idea how much we care about her, love her, and enjoy having her around. She is going to go back to her mom's tonight and tomorrow because she is mad at her dad.

The reason? He always "yells" at her.

This of course is not true. He asks her questions about where she needs to go, who will be there, when she needs a ride, etc. All things she should know about the activities she is participating in---however her answer is always, "I don't know." He asked her two weeks ago to find out about a trip her hockey team is taking to a tournament in Grand Rapids, MN. FAR AWAY FROM HOME ALL WEEKEND. She had NO details, nothing. He told her to find out before she came back to our house....nope, nada, nothing.

She sometimes seems to live in a world of her own I call Sarahfairyland.

In her head it goes: Stuff will just magically work out, I do not have to do anything, la ti da!

Anyway, it makes my husband sad when she acts this way. I do not like to see him sad...I gave him a hug and said, "It's hard when you are the parent."

My husband's ex, DO NOT MISUNDERSTAND SHE IS A GOOD MOM, but she tries too hard to be the buddy. Not good, but it is her choice.

Oh well, we will survive.

Dog and Beth babysit, Party was fun, Cars rules the house

Sunday, November 18, 2007

Yes, I let Dog the Bounty Hunter and Beth babysit for Boo Boo La La while we enjoyed smoked ham, my KILLER mashed potatoes and many glasses of vino at J and B's annual cocktail party last night. B and I even did a shot of t-killia! It was good, but I threw it straight at the back of my throat and almost coughed it up! Amatuer, I tell ya. See what happens when you get old?

Do not do it.

J's sista' is knocked up...which is nice. There will be another round of babies I guess.

Cars, the Pixar movie, has become a Boo Boo La La obsession. We played her the movie once and she is now totally in love. We have watched it at least six times this weekend over various time periods. And at Target today she saw CARS STUFF. So, she got a pillow to go with her blanket that Jake made her....

See the obsession? She is nakid...so beware...she asked to pee shortly after the video was taken.

Yes, a new development. She asked to, and actually PEED in her little Potty. No, I did not photograph that event. But, I am PROUD.

Saturday, November 17, 2007

I am making SNOWY mashed potatoes. Will tell you how people like them after the big cocktail party tomorrow.

P & K are coming over to watch Boo Boo La La...she is so excited she keeps saying

Pete Pete Pete

It is cute

Slow to go...

Friday, November 16, 2007

This morning was really lazy, well slow. Boo Boo La La did not awaken until 7:30am!! It went like this if you are interested:

1) I got up at 6:27am just in time to kiss the hubby goodbye and head down to my computer.

2) I wanted to get my photo cards and holiday photo gifts ordered before I felt like they would not arrive. Thanks for voting I used number 2 and a pic from last year on the card. Do you see how they have ALL grown! Yikes I am an old lady.

3) bbll woke up at 7:27---I looked at the computer, weird huh? I went up to get her and we came down to get her some breakfast and make my coffee.

4) She was ALL DONE at 8:03 am after much fidgeting with her stuff and where she wanted to sit for breakfast.

5) time for bbll to molest the cat...I put a stop to it after a minute or two.

6) Kitchen is clean and we head upstairs to get dressed, bbll has at this time already removed her pj's and diaper and is prancing around naked.

7) She does not want to get dressed she decides instead to diaper her babydoll over and over and over...then pee on my bathroom rug...so much for naked time. AND right next to the potty chair she was sitting on for the three minutes before...but baby was now sitting in the potty.

8) Get dressed and fill our "purse" -her Halloween treat bag- with her stuff and walk to daycare.

9) I get home, return emails, settle in for a quick blog...ha ha ha.

Is that fun or what?

Tomorrow! Stay tuned for the big prep to go to THE COCKTAIL PARTY!!!

Tickle

Thursday, November 15, 2007

And I got philosophical while driving yesterday.

Is it funny? Or is it sick?

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

If you watch the outtakes video Will Farrell and his wife got their daughter to say this stuff...wonder how she will turn out? Better than Kelly Osborne?

Rama-don't

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

So I flew into Ft. Lauderdale last night, do not get excited I return to MN tonight, and AirTran was not a bad airline to fly. We even got in early enough for me to call the hotel shuttle service.

Then:

We arrived and the driver went into the lobby with my bag and did not wait for me to get out of the shuttle.
There was a strange man standing at the front desk talking with the deskman.
The deskman began with, Mrs. Scherber I just need your ID and Amex card...without excusing the man standing there...as I wondered if he were an employeee he said,
"How old are you?"
I gave him a withering look that said---Back off buddy. He started in..."Hey, I am not agreessive I just..."
"Please, I am not comfortable checking in with you standing there." He becomes indignant, obviously had a few cocktails and heads over to rehash with his buddy how "she is not 'comfortable'" blah, blah, blah.
I turn to the night deskman and say, "I wish you would have said something to him so I did not have to."
"I did not want to offend a guest."
"Well, you DID." he shrugs...

Whatever, this is also a DIVE! and all doors are external!!! Yikes. I put every piece of furniture up against the door and window. Can you say three hours of sleep and not all in a row?

I can not wait to go home.

Chuck E Cheese

Monday, November 12, 2007

I have been dreading the day when my little Boo boo la la is old enough to request a birthday trip to Chuck E Cheese. It is the kind of place where you need to abandon all sense and reason... you have to go with the flow and eat before you get there because the pizza is cardboard with ketchup and the 'salad bar' is iceburg and shredded carrots. This is what I/ME/MYSELF think; it apparently is not a widely held opinion.

T and I were watching a football game later Sunday and a commercial came on for CiCi's pizza-- some pizza-buffet place where it is all-you-can-eat for $5. T made the comment that must be some really nasty pizza; I said it can NOT be worse than Chuck E Cheese and he exclaimed, NO WAY!!!! Chuck E Cheese is GREAT pizza. (huh, I am thinking....) It is WAY better than Domino's....WHAT!?!!! Ewww. Who am I married to? I love Domino's pizza, even though the guy who founded it opposes abortion which should make me not want it, I like Domino's better than most pizza.

My favorite is still Papa Murphy's take-n-bake---at least we have that one in common.

Choose our holiday photo!

Sunday, November 11, 2007

Which photo should we put on our holiday card this year? 1, 2, 3 or 4. Please vote!

Happy Birthday, Mr. KAAARRRL!

Saturday, November 10, 2007

My friend Karl has a birthday...a big one...he turns FIVE-O in December and his wife is throwing a surprise open house for him. They are trying to get away with it by saying it is for Jilena, his daughter. We will see how that works out for her; Good luck Patty!

The chops turned out AWESOME. My hubby complained about the onion remnants in the trash but I ignored him because he ate it like he never had a pork chop before. I cooked it longer than the recipe because I had THICK chops, but it did not take more than 25 minutes including bringing the apple juice to a boil. I served with little red potatoes and green beans. Even my boo boo la la ate some chop!

I am hoping for a nice glass of wine tonight at the party, or five, and to be home in bed to watch SNL. I never last much beyond the monologue these days....tragic.

Not much to say today

Friday, November 9, 2007

I am making a new "kid friendly" dish from my Simon Delivers order:

Tender pork chops cooked until lightly brown and then simmered in an apple juice and onion mixture make a quick and delicious meal.

1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Oh and speaking of farm animals and food. I was at a meeting yesterday of the NCBTA and this Irishman was talking about being "Green" in business travel. He brought up FOOD in meeting planning as a way to go green...buy locally and all that. WAY extreeme, but he has a point.

Also, he said "ME - thane" for the gas we all know comes from cows and sheep. It was funny to ME....

Again I say, OY VEY!!!

Thursday, November 8, 2007

What kind of world have I brought my daughter into?

There was a knock at the door today and it was a very nice police officer from my city investigating the attack on my neighbor and councilman Mike Opat.

He informed me it was random and similar to attacks they had been investigating in Brooklyn Center.

Nice.

And it's juvenilles so they are harder to get information and prosecution on...

Better yet.

I read the other day that people are negative because of all the horrible news. I guess I will have to start watching Sponge Bob in the morning and Will & Grace at night instead of the news.

Hope you have a better news day.

SHUUUUTTT UPPPPP~!

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

I have a toddler. She is not a baby anymore, no matter what I tell myself or others.

She has begun to say SHUTUP! And not just shutup, but...

Shutup, shutup, shutup! Over and over.

Daycare says they do not say it there, I have warned the older kids not to say it anymore....then comes home the hubby.

"I am not going to monitor how I say that word." HUH???!!???

How is this going to work? It is like watching football with him at home when the swearing and complaining is at its maximum; ALMOST makes me want season tickets again so I do not have to listen to it.

**Sigh**

Riffing on a theme...

Tuesday, November 6, 2007

I just read a blog post about Posh Spice being on Ellen and promoting her new book about dressing for less. HA HA HA!

I started thinking again about the celebrity clothing for discount retailers, or in other words what did Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Tieggs do to us!

There are:
Madonna or Stella McCartney at H & M
Sarah Jessica Parker at Steve and Barry's - Bitten? Really?
Vera Wang at Kohl's

I have tried before to find these GREAT FASHION pieces and it always seems that no real store carries them...they must save them for the H & M Times Square or Wal-Mart on Fifth Avenue.
Give us real women real choices for once. I want something simple in nice material that fits, for once. *sigh* It really does NOT need celebrity endorsement.

Saturday In the Yard...I think it was the third of November

Monday, November 5, 2007

I just love how much fun Terry and BBLL have when they rake the yard. This is the second time this fall...first time with the new camera. Note how Terry tells me what he is doing and I act like I really care....or am listening!~

Last Night we celebrated

Sunday, November 4, 2007

So, yesterday we went to a baby shower for my cousin and his wife. She is very sweet, but her friend from Texas went OVERBOARD. Here are some things we had to endure:
  1. A 19 question Texas Trivia contest---poke my ears out now.
  2. Texas gifts, including sterlized soil to put under the bed while she is having the baby so the kid can be "Born on Texas soil." My Auntie L said she is moving to Europe because of that!
  3. Ladybugs EVERYWHERE - thank god they are moving because there were about 200 ladybug buttons all over and at least a few would be in the carpet: can you say this woman has no kids and does not understand CHOKING hazzard?

I left a bit early because I had plans. We were going out to celebrate the seven years we have now officially been married. We went to the O'Shaunessy to see "The Gales of November..." a play/concert about the Edmund Fitzgerald and Lake Superior in general. Yes, I know, it sounds VERY lame. I won tickets from FM107, but it was WAY cooler than I imagined. We liked most of it --- there were some questionable narrations that most of the audience laughed at that offended my sailor hubby. Me too.

The BIG hit was my suggestion of Dixies on Grand for our dinner before. My hubby loved it so much he now wants to go there EVERY year. If your husband likes meat and seafood and spicy I say head over and have the Jambalaya or the Ribs...their sauce is killer. I had the BBQ Chicken, it comes with the sauce on the side so you control and was MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. Plus, I have always loved the mashed potatoes---though they were not as good as they used to be.

And did I mention it was CHEAP. Our dinner was about $30 and we were STUFFED!

Enjoy your Sunday.

Set the Clocks back.

We are off to brunch with my folks to pick up Boo Boo La La. She has Grandma's number I tell ya!

Just in case

Saturday, November 3, 2007

I am doing a quick and lame blog in case I don't have time after the shower.

My cousin's wife is having a baby---the invite said she was registered at Babies R Us, but I could not find it, even with the help of the people at Babies R Us...they even looked for her on Target and WalMart for me!!! Nothin'

Oh well, hope she likes the practical gift I got. I filled a bucket, good for soaking baby clothes, with sanitizing spray(2), pre-treater, a thermal cooler for bottles, a rattle, and a roll of dirty diaper bags to attach to the diaperbag for when you are out.

Have a good Saturday.

Chillin'

Friday, November 2, 2007

I was worried I would not have something to blog about everyday of NaBloPoMo(which others say sounds like everything from candy to an odd disease to...), however I realized that my husband and Boo Boo La La are pretty entertaining.

Who else insists on wearing sunglasses and a Nemo swimsuit in the hot tub on the first day of November in MN?

I got prolific today at NaBloPoMo: Read here.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Halloween! from the frankenstien girls.

Thursday, November 1, 2007

The photoshow randomly begins when you post it, so I took it down in favor of this little beauty. If you want to watch the Halloween 2007 show, or any others, please see the links!

Love ya,

Mommy
