I love my Ethics Professor - and she is a Lawyer!
Wednesday, October 29, 2008
I love this class a lot so far - only in week 4, but it is just a 10 week class. And my professor gives great feedback to us for applying what we are reading to personal ethics situations.
Here are her most recent comments and explain why I like her sooooo much, she 'gets' me.
I enjoyed reading this because it sounds like something I would do--agree with the boss to appease him/her but then go ahead and act in a direct and honest manner as I am accustomed to doing. We can't change our personalities to automatically become evasive and withholding, can we? I don't think I would want to.
I am like this, too: "11) I believe I am fairly easy to understand, I try not to have a hidden agenda. Symbolically that may mean that people trust me, or if they misunderstand/don’t believe, they may not trust me at all."
I suppose it does not hurt that I am getting an A so far, but I have a 4.0 going with five classes left and have not enjoyed comments from other professors nearly as much...
And how are your ethics feeling today?

Open Plea
Dear ABC, NBC, CBS, even FOX - put some damn show on besides the ridiculous(Eli Stone, Heroes), Reality(Biggest Loser, Survivor), or crime(do we need another CSI?).
Could you move Gray's to Tuesday? Maybe Lipstick Jungle? I do NOT want to watch the damn Housewives of Atlanta, but there is nothing on your networks that holds any interest for me on Tuesday or Thursday nights....maybe split up the Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters? Shouldn't they both be on at nine after my Boo Boo is in bed?
Come on, help a sista' out. I just want an hour of escape each night - I do not believe that is unreasonable.... ;)

I do not know any other man who rakes ONLY for his daughter to play in the leaves.
I love that weasel.
Brooke Sheilds is funny!

Except when Kathy Griffen is making fun of her and her mother.
I must say - Damn, I think these spots are funny.
More reasons to hope...
I was not in support of Obama during the primary season - However, I have no desire for McCain to get elected and (god forbid) die in office and leave us with President Palin *it pained me so much to type that that I shuddered and almost threw up in my mouth*
Please enjoy reading what Alaskan Women think about Sarah Palin
The Alaska Women Reject Palin rally was to be held outside on the lawn in front of the Loussac Library in midtown Anchorage. Home made signs were encouraged, and the idea was to make a statement that Sarah Palin does not speak for all Alaska women, or men. I had no idea what to expect.
The rally was organized by a small group of women, talking over coffee. It made me wonder what other things have started with small groups of women talking over coffee. It's probably an impressive list. These women hatched the plan, printed up flyers, posted them around town, and sent notices to local media outlets.
I felt a bit apprehensive. I'd been disappointed before by the turnout at other rallies. Basically, in Anchorage , if you can get 25 people to show up at an event, it's a success. It's a good thing I wasn't tailgating when I saw the crowd in front of the library or I would have ended up in somebody's trunk. When I got there, about 20 minutes early, the line of sign wavers stretched the full length of the library grounds, along the edge of the road, 6 or 7 people deep! I could hardly find a place to park. I nabbed one of the last spots in the library lot, and as I got out of the car and started walking, people seemed to join in from every direction, carrying signs.
Never, have I seen anything like it in my 17 and a half years living in Anchorage . The organizers had someone walk the rally with a counter, and they clicked off well over 1400 people (not including the 90 counter-demonstrators). This was the biggest political rally ever, in the history of the state. I was absolutely stunned. The second most amazing thing is how many people honked and gave the thumbs up as they drove by. And even those that didn't honk looked wide-eyed and awe-struck at the huge crowd that was growing by the minute. This just doesn't happen here.
Then, the infamous Eddie Burke(conservative Alaskan radio host) showed up. He tried to talk to the media, and was instantly surrounded by a group of 20 people who started shouting O-BA-MA so loud he couldn't be heard. Then passing cars started honking in a rhythmic pattern of 3, like the Obama chant, while the crowd cheered, hooted and waved their signs high.
So, if you've been doing the math… Yes. The Alaska Women Reject Palin rally was significantly bigger than Palin's rally that got all the national media coverage! So take heart, sit back, and enjoy the photo gallery. Feel free to spread the pictures around to anyone who needs to know that Sarah Palin most definitely does not speak for all Alaskans. The citizens of Alaska , who know her best, have things to say.

Love, Laughter and Chicago Dogs

If you know NOTHING about my husband and I you must know that we met at one of the biggest dives in NE Mpls.
Arone's Bar
I am not sure if this is the reason we love Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives - but it would be a fair guess...so last weekend we decided to go to one of the places on Triple D - Town Talk Diner.
two words - BACON MANHATTEN
When we got home - lo & behold - Guy was on Food Network and reviewing ANOTHER Minnesota Classic, THE WEINERY! This blog is not about the food, although I highly recommend going to the Weinery and getting, at minimum, a Chicago Dog and Fries - hand cut & prepared to order - so do NOT be in a hurry to get anywhere else.
We decided to head over to The Weinery for a nice dog on Sunday afternoon - late, so we would then have popcorn for dinner (yeah!). Boo Boo La La fell fast asleep on the way over there - so OUT that she slept as I took her out of the car seat and carried her into the "hole in the wall" and sat down finally at a table the counter guy cleaned off for us.
We ordered, she slept, People came in and out - laughing and talking - she slept.
JUST before the food got to our table she wakes up...slowly looks around...and says,
"MOM - LOOK, it's Barack Ooo-BAMA! Can I touch him?" *look toward window and see campaign poster *
Sure, baby, sure.

The whole place laughed and smiled. We were on Cedar Avenue of course....

with a movie that she had never seen before. She dug it out from the DVD Shelf in the basement and wanted to watch.
OK
Toward the end she is sitting in my lap and says:
Mommy, I like that girl.
I do too baby...
I like to play with that girl - can we go her house and play in her room?
ahhhh, she lives far far away.
oh - okay.
Night Boo.

Luv for Nine West
Monday, October 20, 2008

They came out almost two years ago, I think, and quickly became a phenomenon.
Do not go for any imitators, only NINE WEST LUV MY FLATS will do. But you can only get them at 6pm.com, Gotham City Online, Amazon and maybe Ebay if you luck out.
I recently noticed my leopard pair was getting ragged - so much is my love for these shoes - that I snapped up two pair on Saturday.
Nine West is about to become my client - TRUST ME I will tell them to bring these hot shoes BACK!!!
Happy Birthday to my Men!

Oct. 16-17 are our men's birthdays!
Chris Kattan is a phreak
Thursday, October 16, 2008
My brother tried to interview him on his radio show once, it is not news this dude is a phreak. Is it really a shocker he is getting divorced? The shocker for me was the wedding! How could ANYONE stand him?
Other Issues Under Consideration in November
Wednesday, October 15, 2008
While you may not agree with same-sex marriage I do agree with it on the civil union level. I am afraid that the candidates are ignoring the fact that it does NOT have to be in a church to be legal and we should make it legal. I feel it will help the gay community feel more a part of our society - and they ought to feel that way!!! They are after all is said and done your brother, sister, friend, and Dick Cheney's daughter!
The item on the ballot in California makes me the most upset - I have a friend who got married there this year.
Here are the issues up to vote - don't you wish you could put in your two cents?
Same-sex marriage: Initiatives to ban same-sex weddings are on the ballot in Arizona, California and Florida. Arkansas will consider allowing only married couples to serve as foster parents. Approval in California would reverse a state Supreme Court ruling that made California only the
second state to legalize same-sex marriage.

I was reading The Queen's Blog -
Her kid is the damn funniest kid I can about imagine...and it reminded me that I should tell you more stories about Boo Boo La La.
she has been known to be *ahem* entertaining.
Last Sunday we were off to see Playhouse Disney Live - kid nirvana! I was careful not to tell Boo Boo about it until Saturday - otherwise every time we got in the car she would ask if we were going to see Mickey...
So anyway we are driving down to the Xcel Energy Center (p.s. we DID get AC/DC tix and are taking Jake and Sarah, but not Boo Boo. Boo!) and from the back seat comes all the chatter.
Mom
Ya baby
Are we going to see Darby and Pooh?
Yup
And Tigger and Buster?
You bet sweetie
Mickey Mouse? Handy Manny?
Them too. Guess what we are here - let's go in.
OKAY!~!!!!
*walking along* See that door Boo Boo? That is where we go inside to see the show.
HANG ON MICKEY - WE ARE COMING!!!
*giggles from the people around us* and the Boo Boo starts her 'trucking'.

The Large BRIGHT Kitchen:
The "Let's Cook" Kitchen:

Melissa & Doug's version -
Large PASTEL Kitchen
OR, the Funky Retro-Red Kitchen?
It will go in Boo Boo La La's room which is light purple walls, fish-themed bedding, pale pink ceiling and fabulous light green sheers and laundry basket. Other furniture is purple like the walls, white and light oak. YES, being the baby she got hand-me down furniture and other cheaper pieces I thought would work...I want her kitchen to be cool!

I love Kathy Griffin - but DAMN Margaret Cho is gaining!

One of my favorite things happened when Kathy went to Australia - she hung out with Margaret Cho AND Cindy Lauper. How much fun would that be?
Someone had a link to this from Margaret Cho - now I just need to find out when The Cho Show is on my local cable network. ;)
if you are easily offended, don't click to Margaret Cho's blog please. you have been warned

Tuesday Tip Jar - my first one
Tuesday, October 7, 2008

I have tried keeping bags in the car - and end up running back to the car from the store almost every time.
I tried the zip up ones - too small to hold much.
Envirosax rock because they hold a TON and the roll up simply and store in a cute little pouch. I always have them handy in my purse. PLUS, they get me stuff - like cents off to donate to charity at Whole Foods and FREE PUNCHES on my frequent buyer card at Once Upon a Child. (toys, pj's and jeans for a toddler need NOT be new to be loved - and that is another recycling tip! *my second*)
Where to buy them? Amazon.com, Ebay, RedEnvelope - they are basically the same price EVERYWHERE, so look for free shipping or other coupons. They are $38 or so for 5 bags - but that brings home over $200 worth of groceries from Cub.
This is my set - aren't they stylish?
Saturday Night's Alright
Sunday, October 5, 2008
We went to see Liz Phair -really, that is a picture of her - and YES, my camera on my phone bites....she was wearing a skintight purple t-shirt and black skintight leather pants...
Her songs are mostly about taking home guys and f***ng them...it was a fun show and quite surprising that there were so many seemingly straight guys who knew all the words. ')
Faux Martha and I got tickets - I was not going to write about it, BUT - when I got back in the car after seeing Liz at FIRST AVENUE there was a PRINCE song on the radio. *normally not odd in MN, but I had 89.3 The Current on the radio*
A few times during the show FM turned to me and said - damn, she is so tiny - I hate her - then, she turns and says "She must be thirty----" I interrupted to say, "She is 2 months older than me!"
SHUUUUT UPPP! Now, I really hate her.
When we left the show we had cocktails at Lions Pub - it is EXACTLY the same, even the lame 80's, 90's music AND both noticed....
You can see boy's peeing in the First Avenue bathroom from the street!

feeling old
Saturday, October 4, 2008
I am going to the dermatologist on Monday - because I want my freckles and moles checked. I was a lifeguard for many years and I should worry about those things...
but, I looked in the mirror the other day when I was putting on this new cream.
DAMN I got me some deep wrinkles...I am looking so old it is not cute. What the heck happened? I look at pictures from not too long ago and think my skin looked pretty good...but now, YIKES.
plus, I am too heavy and feel like I have no time for everything I want to do...
pity party over and out. I have a cold and I get like that....
Maybe I will ask the derm if botox would fix the wrinkles? ;)

I love it. Something to get the whole family involved in the Veep Debates!
Okay, wasn't this a REPUBLICAN idea?
Wednesday, October 1, 2008
In the final vote, 40 Democrats, 33 Republicans and independent Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut voted "yes." Nine Democrats, 15 Republicans and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont voted "no."
Boo Boo La La is STUBBORN- imagine that?
You have seen it here and here.
But pooping and peeing on the potty are not the norm yet.
Why is it so hard - I have used treats, pullups with Dora the Explorer - Don't get Yummy Started!
But yesterday AGAIN boo boo la la said, "Mom - I peed in my puuuul up!"
*gee a whole 30 minutes after getting dressed in the pullup and the three minute conversation about - we don't go pee pee in our pullup -- NO mommy we go in the potty!*
I feel awful because I wonder if it is ME? Am I doing something wrong?
She is going to be THREE in JANUARY?
*sigh*
