Even Cowgirls Get The Blues...

Sunday, January 31, 2010

I am so strange - what makes me cry is the oddest stuff.  Exhibit A - Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
There are several parts of this movie that make me BALL like a gigantic baby.

Then there is this new one that has me sobbing each time I see the first ten minutes or so...

Have you seen it yet?  If you are anything like me have a box of kleenex...
It just breaks me up and I get to a point where I am so freaking sad!

Then last night after my daughter asked me to watch this movie for about the ump-teenth time she aske me to help her go potty.
We are at a cabin and so I kind of understood.
When we get in there she says..."I have to go poopy."
Great, I will be out in the living room...
"NO!  Stay here with me.  You know mama, if you eat too much food you poop and pee."
Uh-huh.
"Help me get this poopy out.  Push on my belly...not hard though."
That will help?
"Yes, just push it right there on my belly button."
Right...
"Mama, the poopies float, they like to swim."
They do?
"Yes, they swim in the potty; just like people!"
Ewww.
"Just kidding, people don't swim in the potty.  Mice swim in the potty and then you flush them down the drain...THAT'S GROSS, huh?"
Yes.  But now I am not sad from the movie any more baby.
Thanks.

This Friday Video is brought to you on Saturday...You are WONDERFUL!

Every person who has read this blog, every person who encourages this blog, every person who commented and to every blog I have read myself...you are all wonderful.

Enjoy your weekend!

Let's be fabulous together!

Friday, January 29, 2010

A friend commented on my Facebook status that I was AWESOME!  I love her for that because you see I have not been feeling particularly awesome.  And the funny part is:
  • I have had the best three months of sales EVER at this job.
  • I have lost about 20lbs since last October.
  • My baby is getting to be such a nice girl, outgoing and clever and CARING!
  • My family is all healthy.
  • My step-daughter got accepted to cool colleges.
  • I will be DONE with college myself in about 8 weeks...and I am still clinging to my 4.0.
So what is WRONG with me already?

It must be the winter blahs.  So I have GOT to play along with My Life in Purple's new idea:

Because you know, I AM!
and so are YOU!

And just HOW am I fabulous today?  Well, last night I got my daughter and I packed, returned items to TWO stores, fed her dinner and a lovely snack, downloaded TWO movies to the iPod Touch for her to watch, then this morning, did laundry, did yoga, took a shower, made a list of what to do when packing the car tonight, finished packing, fed and dressed my Boo Boo La La (myself too I guess!), gassed up the car, got cash, went to the office, paid the bills, made another sale and a bunch of calls; and DESPITE the fact it is below zero I put these cute shoes in my purse so I could feel fabulous at the office!
(I wore my Uggs in the car, still fab-u-lous! just warmer)

So, how are YOU celebrating your fabulous-ness today?

Happy Birthday Dear Jenny Mac's blog....

LOTS of work and something else in the works, AND school.

Plus, we leave for a trip on Friday - SOOOO.  I will try to write again over the weekend.  But please enjoy this photo of my new FaceBook profile picture:

All about MEme and how Bobby Flay pissed me off this morning.

and the prompt is "Deal Breakers"
and while that is fine and good and all...I am taking licencse with this prompt.
MY DREAM DEAL BREAKER!

I mean, COME ON, they are my dreams, right?  (and I think Liz would approve this one.)

This is what happend last night.  I fell asleep watching Throwdown with Bobby Flay.  (he is one of my obsessions!)  I mean, what woman in her right mind does not want to get "Thrown Down" by Bobby Flay?  Let's take a look....

Handsome, non?

In this dream I was working for Bobby and we were in my kitchen.  He was lamenting his latest divorce and I was thinking, "Kiss me DAMMIT!" and all of a sudden we were!  And in my dream Bobby Flay is the best kisser on earth and tastes vaguely of cinnamon...and as I am enjoying this lip lock I hear...

MAMA come LOOOOOK!

and another child saying, "NO, shhhhh!"

I round the corner and my daughter and step-daughter are in the bathroom doing the daughter's hair.
but, something else is going on...
The step-daughter is wearing a slutty shirt and hiding A BOY in our home and its 7:30am??!!??  Why is this boy in my HOME???  And as I am about to go tell my husband, YES I REALIZE I WAS MAKING OUT WITH BOBBY FLAY IN MY KITCHEN, but this is MY DREAM okay???

I WAKE UP!

So, my deal breaker is THIS, BOBBY FLAY!  Next time you decide to kiss me, do it in YOUR kitchen.  Not mine.
Mmm-kay?

A girl needs her accessories...

And many cool tunes like this one to make it through life.

I always rock out to that tune when working out at the Y.

Thanks Starbucks free iTunes for the recommendation!

So I am in this class - my LAST class for my BS in Business - and the whole thing is a
FREAKING GROUP PROJECT!!!
I am sooooo going to be pissed off if it messes with my perfect 4.0

The issue is that three of us have been participating, and I think working well together, since day ONE of our assigned groups.  The other two cannot even be bothered to register for the online simulation until late in the game, then they whine and complain about the schedule we have set up - (the woman) - act all confused and do not contribute to the discussion even when asked a direct question!!  (the man, of course!)  ;)

PEOPLE SUCK!

Except my dear friend Patty - who took these awesome pictures of Boo Boo over the New Year weekend:

Ski-Doo Boo Boo

Boo Boo Princess

Tonight is our company holiday party - whoop whoop - in St. Paul, natch, and there will be an ice storm so I guess I will be drinking my own glass of wine at home instead of all the free wine.  BOO!

Then today - cruising the blogs I read - I saw this on Alphaville and...

HAD TO SHARE!

Enjoy my little ice pellets!

Valentine's Day is coming!!!

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

So yesterday I had to make a stop at CVS and Boo Boo La La was given the choice:
1) Go into the store with mommy.
2) Go through the drive through, just picking up RX

She chose:
3) Go into the store with mommy and get a TREAT!

Okay - I will play along I guess...and we go into the store and there is now

VALENTINES DAY CANDY EVERYWHERE!!!

Boo Boo got Lik-a-Maid Fun Dip, looking for a picture of what that is...I found the COOLEST site!

They have a NERDdoodler of all things, you make pictures out of digitized Nerd candy!
tee hee, I am goofy.

Anyway!
I saw that they had my favorite Valentine candy at 2 boxes for $1 and there are only about 25 kids in Boo Boo's class, so I bought an unopened box of 36 boxes of Sweethearts!

I think, "What a GENIOUS I am!  I am all done for the Valentine party and its.not.even.FEBRUARY!  We can just use fancy pink and red sharpies to write her name on the box and "To my friend" like all the other mom's have done for the Halloween party.  I am FREAKING Martha Stewart here, well maybe Rachal Ray."

ahhhh!

We get to the pharmacy counter with the Lik-a-Maid and the Sweethearts, ask for the RX I came in for and the guy cannot ring up the Sweethearts!

ACK don't open the box, don't open the box...I want a whole box so they do not get pilfered before the Valentine party!!

Instead of helping me by calling up to the front or something -  I had to run to the front, there was a LINE of people behind me at the pharmacy counter now, and grab a single box to bring back...with a very ticked off toddler in tow!
But now I wonder, are Sweethearts inappropriate for pre-schoolers?  The box showed a lot of "KISS ME" hearts...
They cannot really read anyway, right?

Another one where I reveal just how ANCIENT I am...

Last Friday the radio station mentioned it was that day in history the Rolling Stones were on Ed Sullivan - (Ehhhhd Sullivan, I wanna be on - Ed Sullivan!.) and had to change "Night" to "Time" here is the video:

So I thought. Hmmm, I wonder if I saw that. I mean, not REALLY saw it but if it were on in the background as my parents were hanging out that evening and decided to ask my mother.

This was her repsonse:

From: Mary Xxx [mailto:mbxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com]

Subject: I want to be on Ed Sullivan!

Every time I think of Ed Sullivan I think of the musical with that Song (Ed Sullivan! I want to be on Ed Sullivan!). (Editor's Note: SO DO I MOM! Probably because we watched it on late night television all the time and my BROTHER played the Father who sang that song, Harry MacAfee!, when he was in High School.)
Yes, we probably were watching if we weren’t on the road coming home from grandma’s house. It seems like when we lived in South St Paul we went to Albert Lea almost every weekend so the grandmas could spoil you. As the first grandchild on either side you were in high demand; so off we’d go one weekend with Gma Xxx and the next with Gma Sxxxxx. We didn’t settle down in to our own routine until we moved to Blue Earth and got a dog.

So, that was it.  I probably did because we did not get the dog until 1970!  ;)

I just find this HIL-AR-IOUS!

I read this FANTASTICLY FUNNY *LAWYER'S* blog.  Yes, an attorney who is funny.
Who knew?

The other day she wrote a blog about good things that people do and it reminded me of a time when I was pregnant.  Yes, I had to go back a few years for a GREAT example, but it was a really scary time for me...

I got HIT driving home from work by a security truck.  I was 36 weeks pregnant and the other driver turned left without a green arrow and SMASHED right into me.

side note: I was just recounting this story to my friends over our New Year's trip snowmobiling.  Would you believe it - of the four women who had babies ALL of us were hit by other drivers when we were about 25-35 weeks pregnant?  HELLO PEOPLE WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING!!!!  I know for a fact two of us were hit by MALE drivers.

The corner where I was hit was very close to a mission for homeless singles and a home for homeless families.  The SECURITY GUARD who hit me never got out of his car to see if I was okay.  I in fact stayed in the car because I was so.freaked.out!

Was my baby okay?  Damn, he hit me hard!

Another driver who saw the whole thing came to my window and gave me his name and number to be a witness & make sure I was okay.  I started crying and told him I was pregnant.

"WHOAH!  You sure are."  he said then he called 911 and told them to send an ambulance to check on me.

Then as I waited for what seemed like FOREVER.  Homeless person after homeless person came by and up to the window.  Are you okay?  Do you need help?  And when they found I was pregnant one of them went over and TOLD the security guard.

"Do you KNOW you hit a pregnant woman?  ARE YOU WORRIED about her and her BABY?"

He did not move...I kind of felt bad, but seriously?  He was wrong and should have come to see if I were okay in the first place.

So Okay, the bad part was the crash and the driver.  But the good part?

The driver who stopped.  He was on his way home from work like I was; and there were many others at this intersection.  But HE stopped, got pen and paper, gave me his contact information to be a witness, called 911 and offered to sit with me until help came.  He did not have to do that - you know how it is on the way home.  You just want to get home!

The homeless people.  It was DANG cold and they stopped to check on me on their way to get a warm spot at the shelter, delaying their warm meal to make sure a fellow human was fine.

I was really grateful for them.  I was scared and they made me feel better!

And of course, everything was okay.  Boo Boo La La is here, isn't she?  ;)

Friday Video - with Bette Davis Eyes

Friday, January 15, 2010

I love love love love Bette Davis - so do other people and yesterday

Blonde Episodes

go follow her blog now...

Wrote about a Bette Davis movie, All About Eve.

It made me remember watching her on Letterman years ago, just shortly before her death. So, the Friday video has to be a two parter - her interview on Letterman.

Enjoy!

Ohhhh. Nom. Nom. Nom. I would eat you all up!

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Sometimes I gaze at "This is Why you are FAT!" just to be grossed out and not want to eat.
This time...it did not work.
Bacon Carmel Popcorn?
Umm, even sounds good to me and we all KNOW how I feel about bacon.

I must learn to give in...

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

The dear blogger at *French Charming* this morning wrote about wanting more time...

This morning it really hit me hard to read this because I feel so rushed every morning!  Sometimes I hear myself actually YELL about the stupidest stuff!

I mean, really?  I don't have an extra 120 seconds to go upstairs and get a different item to take for show and tell?

Really?

I want more time in the morning.
More time to wake up, shower, put in a load of laundry, cuddle my daughter until she is awake, feed her breakfast at home so she can have something warm instead of cereal...get dressed how slow we like, give boo boo la la more naked time, brush our teeth together slowly....

And brush hair without the massive amount of tears...I really want that one a lot.

I don't ask for much, but I would like this...and I could take it if I just give in...

Tired - but stickin' it anyway!

If you wanna play too - head on over to Supah's place for all the deets.

Happy Tuesday!

i heart faces - week 2 - best face photo

you knew I had to enter, right?

Boo Boo La La is FOUR TODAY!!!

Saturday, January 9, 2010

I cannot believe this picture was taken nearly a year ago when we first came home from the hospital. My mother and I were trying to figure out what was wrong...she was so mad about something! I loved that little froggie outfit - if it was clean, she wore it.

This is what I usually saw looking up at me on maternity leave...the I am hungry and WIDE AWAKE face. :) I took many pictures like this one.

Mornings as she was able to sit up - and afternoons when she woke from a nap - I was greated usually with a smile. She never used to be crabby when she woke up; I wonder when that changed?
Booger Lickin' Good!

Learning cool stuff - like my feet smell.

She is always making faces - just ALWAYS! Look at the evidence in ALL the picutes...

I used to have to MAKE her pose...that changed.

Hoppy Easter - or "The Bunny Santa" is coming to town...

I see this face A LOT! It says, "Mom, you are NOT serious."
Tired Pooker.
Again, she is embarrassed by me at a YOUNG age...

Did someone fart?

Peek-A-Boo! I see you...

Quite often she puts her hands to her face, fingers in mouth, when taking photos. It has begun to annoy me....
So she and I are even!

I am still not sure if she was annoyed, or confused. ;)

And now we are in our "Show Off" years.

This one says, "PLEASE can I have it?"

She gets TOTALLY excited by ANY present or treat.
I hope that lasts for a while...

She TRIES to be a mother hen...

I love my family a lot. I will sit with EVERYONE!

When I get tired...I get tired.

Such a happy face...I love this face.
BLAH!
Fashonista's at the after party from "The Paper Bag Princess" premiere.

Dressin' Up is fun to do!
I am Princess Osh Kosh of the Milky Way
Move over Beckham!
Here is what I hear, "See mama, I TOLD you..."
Frogs? Forget frogs. I kiss FISH!
Heidi Klum goes to pre-school...
I AM Ariel. Who are you?
Ha Ha Ha! Bouncy Houses are the best!
I plan on starring in "Zoolander: The rise of the Daughter"
I got a Barbie!
Daddy's little goofball say "Wha?"
This little light of mine...
I love to watch her shine and be silly and confused and just about everything.
Yes, I am ready for my next modeling gig in Paris.
Poor Boo Boo - she just wants to go to school.
She is my sweet angel and I love all of her faces.
Even...
ACK! The public cannot see me at the hair salon! Be GONE people!
But be back at 4pm for my birthday party.
Kisses, Boo Boo La La
