Warning - New Scam

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Okay - my phone was charging last night and later today I pulled it off and saw I had a voice message.

I access the voice message and guess what it says:

"Your debit card has been deactivated.  Please press 1 to reactivate your debit card."

Ummmm, what?

Okay I got the Target Debit Card the other day - maybe something happened when I set that up.  Checked with Target - Nope, that is fine.  Okay I call my bank.  NOPE.  Your debit card is just fine.

So here is my warning Family, Friends, Tweeps all over the internet.

DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFO WHEN SOMEONE CALLS OR EMAILS YOU!!!

So ends this lesson, Sunday, August 12, 2012.

I can't second this enough! I used to work at a call center for a bank, and we'd get a lot of calls for peeps who did give out their info, either over the phone or online. I've seen the financial devestation that can happen when people do stuff like this.

It's crazy how many scams are out there. I feel like it would be just as profitable for people to put their efforts into a legitimate business instead of trying to scam random strangers.

Lisa 1 Scammers 0. Nicely done.

It always amazes me the creativity they put into stealing.
