Would you like a scone with that dear?

I read a blog of this FABULOUS chef/chicky who lives in St.Paul I believe.  Her post that I just read reminded me of something I learned when I was eight...

How to make Grandma some "tea"!

My Grandparents would have me down to Albert Lea for a week or so every summer. One particularly stuffy August day my Granny asked if I wanted to help her make her tea.

SURE! I loved to make stuff with Granny. We made all kinds of stuff, cookies, chalk drawings, embroidery, crochet beer can hats, clay pots, cornhusk dolls (no I am NOT kidding, Granny was an Art Major at St. Olaf besides being just the Snow Queen!)

So, Granny gets down the big green glass bottle I loved to admire from afar.  Yes, I knew that it had to be good even then.  We got another bottle that was clear, some ice and a lovely teapot. "Okay," says Granny, "pour in 4 little glass fulls of the stuff in the green bottle and then 1/2 a little glass from the clear bottle. That's it sweetie, right over the ice chunks! Ahhh perfection."

Happy 94th Birthday Granny!

We can have Martini's on Sunday! Or maybe it will be too cold and I will need that special 'cough' medicine. You know the sugar, hot water, and stuff from that really cool brown bottle with the maple leaf on it!

I can NOT Scrapbook...

However, I can use Comcast PhotoShow Deluxe! Yes, it was a gift orgy.

Happy Friday!

Coffee and staring is occurring!

My husband thinks I take things too seriously.

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

I am so tired of election news already...especially all the polls that say this or that candidate is going to win the nomination ---AND THEN, the estimates on who would win if this or that candidate was up against another.

IT IS STUPID and influences the sheep of America.

Here is how I feel about it---enjoy Vikings Fans who were glad to see this freak leave our state!

I wish I could feel bad about it...

We are shopping for a new vehichle...ours is in need of replacement after its wonderful service over the past six years or so...

The car in question was chosen by me and for me; however my husband currently drives it and I drive the Ford Taurus mommy-wagon we bought while I was pregnant. It was easier for me to get in and out of and my hubby fell in love with my Mountaineer. I drove it on occaision early on---I missed its power, sunroof and stereo---but, my hubby trashes cars pretty badly so now I can hardly stand to be in the thing. Poor car.

What are we planning to replace the 6 liter Mountaineer with? A Lincoln Aviator with an 8 liter engine....YIKES many will say...what of gas, the environment, etc. ?

Well, here are the reasons I do not feel bad.

  1. We need a car that can haul our three snowmobiles -- and the new hybrid SUV's are outrageously expensive.
  2. We are buying a used vehicle anyway...we both had new before and prefer a car with a few miles on it now.
  3. I work at home, the hubby works 6 miles from here! Even with a gas-pig we do less damage on the environment than some people I know---my SIL drive 80 miles ONE WAY each day. (AND we rarely fly anywhere for vacation.)
  4. I buy organic as much as I can.
  5. We shop for local food whenever possible, even BEER---love that Finnegan's!
  6. I clean with vinegar and water, or baking soda, etc. when I can.
  7. We have replaced every bulb possible with energy efficient---trouble is that some of the energy efficient bulbs can not be used on dimmer switches. Get on THAT GE, Phillips, and Sylvania!
  8. I wash almost everything in cold water and dry as little as possible.
  9. We donate money to environmental causes whenever we can.
  10. I vote for environmental candidates whenever possible too.

So there! We do what we can and we are not terrorists for wanting an affordable car that does what we need it to do. When the car companies start making affordable cars that have great mileage, I will buy one.

Did I rant too much?

Five hours in an Airport

Friday, February 15, 2008

I am SOOOO bummed that I missed out on the arrest!!! I WAS THERE FOR FIVE HOURS AND DID NOT SEE IT???

Bai Ling's good looks and eccentric outfits have frequently put her picture in celebrity magazines, but that doesn't mean she can take the magazines for free.

The Chinese actress was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of shoplifting two celebrity magazines and two packets of batteries at Los Angeles International Airport. The items had a total value of $16, said Sgt. Jim Holcomb of the airport's police department.

The 41-year-old actress was detained by a store employee who summoned police, Holcomb said. She was booked for investigation of misdemeanor shoplifting and released after agreeing to appear in court on March 5.

An e-mail message seeking comment sent to Ling's agent on Thursday was not immediately returned.

NOT that I would have known who the heck she was. It just would have been more exciting. Here is what did happen.

Jenn-the goddess-Gomez and I had lunch at the Road House in Terminal Two after we watched the big cheese of AMEX Business Travel take off his shoes in the security line just like everyone else. (Actually Charles is one cool Parisian!)

I went to see if I could get a t-shirt for the Munchkin and Jen did the same for Gabby. We got Mickey tee's.

I wandered to the ladies and my gate, chatted up co-workers and tried to get on the earlier flight...NO DICE BABY! And FYI, your flight is delayed one hour already.

SUBER FABULOUS!

Returned to Jenn-Goddess' gate to wait until she left for "Rock City" and then shopped more in the scary weird LAX shops.

Finally loaded up on the plane and get next to "ISSUE GIRL" She bitched and moaned the whole way about her mother---YES ALL 3 plus hours in turbulence.

SWEET!

Then she gets on her cell the SECOND they say you can and calls her mother. We are in the next to last row and I have to listen while we taxi and wait to get off the plane to her saying.

"Just apologize Mother"

"I love you but you have serious issues and I need an apology"

OVER AND OVER

I would have hung up on the ungrateful brat.

:)

Thank god my child is two and thinks I hung the moon still.

Should I be Auf'ed?

GO TO BRAVO TV and tell me now.

I am a huge geek, and I embrace that.

Friday, February 8, 2008

Everyone knows I am a huge geek.

I like very weird things; like reading Wikepedia's obscure entries, surfing CNN/Fox News, Local News, etc.

I choke up at victories by anyone. Yes, I get physically emotional when I see someone win something they fought hard to get...it does not matter who or what...it just moves me for some reason.

I love me some reality tv; Project Runway, Top Chef, Real Housewives, etc.

But, I really adore the Gosselin's. And Sunday they have an all afternoon/evening marathon on TLC. I am in heaven!!!

How do I explain Jon and Kate Plus 8? I "get" them. They love each other, they tried fertility treatments to have kids and BAM they get twins and BAM BAM BAM they get sextuplets! Yes, eight children under the age of eight!!!

I love them because they fight, they make faces at what their kids are doing, they get frustrated, but they see the joy in everything and really love each other. It makes me feel normal somehow. Does that make sense?

Just watch one time and see if you are not hooked too.

MICKEY!!! no, not the mouse.

Have you ever watched "Little Nicky"? The movie that Adam Sandler made just to show off all his other movies and see how much he could actually get away with?

It is really funny. I love the movie premise of a geeky son of the devil, I love the music, I LOVE Patricia Arquette. I told someone once that you can tell if you will get along with someone if they feel the same way you do about "Little Nicky".

Adam Sandler is my boyfriend after all, I have to support his artistic efforts, but more about my boyfriends some other day.

The point of this all is that my two year old child is now IN LOVE with "Little Nicky". She is so obsessed that I wish they made action figures I could by for her. She carries the jacket of the DVD all around and points to Adam and says in a sweet little voice, "My Mickey." And then she kisses him.

Now, I am not the one who introduced her to this movie. That would be the 14 year old boy in our house. But, gosh darn it, there isn't anything *really* bad in this movie. No nudity, no real violence is shown(except Winkler and the Bees and Ozzy with the digital image bat), and Nicky is half-angel, soooooo....what is the harm if she watches it now and then?

I crack myself up.

Elvis has left...the driveway?

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

Okay, this guy and his wife obviously do not understand the INTERNATIONAL symbol for "I am done with it, take it! Free, really I do not need it anymore."

UPDATE 2/7: Guess what? Some lady was driving by their house and thought the painting was left out for the trash!!! She saw the news story and returned the painting unharmed. DUH!!! The news people even said...I leave stuff out like that all the time.

Grey Goose

Jingle Ball!

Friday, February 1, 2008

Poor kid has to learn on camera that you can not recreate an accident.

Check out the funky CARS pj's and fairy skirt. This is an oldie, but a goodie.

FYI, the eyes are doing fine!

Kind of nervous today

Three reasons

1) I am meeting my old boss at 9am for an interview for my class on leadership.
2) I am getting my one month exam for my PRK, and I think I am blurry...
3) I am doing a demo for a potential client and am DYING to make my first sale

But, I am going to a movie this weekend with the girls, a party Saturday night and my pal Julie's for Superbowl Sunday...THEN, Boo Boo La La and I have a playdate with this cute munchkin.

Have a good weekend.
