Holiday Shopping with Boo Boo La La

Friday, December 24, 2010

Last Saturday, December 18, 2010, was supposedly the BUSIEST DAY ALL YEAR at the

Mall of America

are we not the luckiest people to have this place? ;P

At the time I didn't know that, but I knew that I had three little things left to purchase and that I wanted to pick up some birthday invitations to send out.  Boo Boo La La's birthday happens soquickly after the holidays I need to keep organized.

So because it was the only mall with all the stores I wanted under one roof - off to the Mall of America we went - with a backpack full of supplies to keep Boo Boo happy in case this took some time - the lines to BUY anything at the Mall of America are NOTORIOUS for being looooooooooong.
----WAIT-----
Have you ever BEEN to the MOA?  Let's pause to show you the Google Earth image of it so you know how HUGE it actually is...

Now THAT'S a Mall

I keep a wristband with points on it in my wallet too - yes, there is an AMUSEMENT PARK inside this mall - it was Camp Snoopy, but do to some controversy it is now

NICKELODEON UNIVERSE
So you can do things like...

Hug Diego...

Turn around and hug Dora

And then pose..

Or do as mommy suggests and go in Sponge Bob's bouncy house.  I thought maybe, just maybe I would get a happy girl if we went in the bouncy house before we shopped...

Oh - by the way - that busy shopping day?  I was moving under a charmed star that day.  Both stores where I wanted a gift card had a special checkout for that with NO LINE and the third store had no line (not telling where or what I bought, people read this blog you know...) and lastly we got birthday invitations in RECORD time, and for a record price.  Boo Me for not looking at the tag.

...we arrive at the Mall of America and I found parking in under five minutes and I begin to share my plan with Boo Boo.

ML: Babe, before we shop do you want to go in Sponge Bob's House.
BBLL: Sure!  Then can I go on the swings too?
ML: We only have time for one thing today.  Is that okay?
BBLL: Sure, can we come again some days too?
ML: How about some time around your birthday?
BBLL: YEAH!  My birthday is after the holidays, right?  Hey WAIT (she sees something...) Can we go on the log ride instead?
ML: ummmm, are you SURE you want to go on that?  Look at it.
BBLL: YES, I want to go on the LOG RIDES!

Well there happend to be a LOOONG line at Sponge Bob's Pineapple In The MOA and NO line at the Log Chute so...

Oh yea, I am mom of the year...
and I forked over $9.99 plus tax to prove it.

Oh, the MOA! I try to avoid it this time of year except for Nordstrom. I still have a few gifts to buy & it is Christmas Eve. I am thinking I can get away with Woodbury Lakes, Golf Galaxy and Target. Yes, all presents for my husband!!

Merry Christmas to you and Boo Boo, my favorite little princess!!

xoxo

You definitely are Mother of the Year!

Love the look on your daughter's face. You HAD to capture that one for a lifetime!

Hubby wants to put the Mall of America on his road trip list of places to stop. After seeing your photos, I wholeheartedly agree.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

Glad you didn't have to deal with the lines!

I've been there- but it's been over 10 years now. Camp Snoopy back then.

And I love that you don't have to wait an hour to hug the characters...oh, and yes, you are mom of the year for doing the log ride!

About 9 years ago I shot a commercial in Minneapolis and on my night off, I took a cab out to the Mall of America, just because I felt like I ought to. I was so impressed! A stinking roller coaster?! And I had an excellent meal in a super fancy restaurant too. Great fun!
