Viva Las Vegas...

Sunday, June 26, 2011

As you read this I am either in the air or at the hotel - or maybe I have returned.  Who knows?  I am going to Vegas.

"Vegas Baby!" as has been said by many before.

But, you see I will be going for work and most of my time in Vegas will be spent...

There in the Convention Center in a booth.  Talking to customers, prospects, doing demos of our new software...pretty exciting stuff, huh?  For those of you who travel for work, you get it.  For those of you who think, "Must be nice to get a free trip." Think again.

I hate traveling for work.

Sure there are benefits.  I get the bed to myself, I don't have to get anyone ready to go anywhere but myself, and I don't have to cook or clean up anything.

But - I have to be in a hotel room by myself, I don't get hugs and kisses and good nights, and I may pick a restaurant that just is not worth the calories by accident.

Plus, the bonus of this:

Airplanes are scary to me.  I didn't used to be a nervous flyer - I could walk around during turbulence, be unconcerned with being in a tiny puddle jumper over the North Sea.  Nothing about an airplane scared me.  Then, I became a mom.  I don't know what it is, but since my first work trip after having the Boo Boo I have been deathly afraid to get on and be on an airplane.  Logically?  I know the chances are pretty terrific that it is fine.  But the take-off, OY the take-off.  I squeeze my eyes shut and scream internally...trying so hard not to freak out my seat mate.  I just cannot take the take-off.  And then when they reduce the thrust of the engines because you are high enough up...I start to cry because I am sure something is horribly wrong and we are going to plummet to the ground below.

I know, crazy.  I am totally crazy, but I am sitting here writing this and crying.  Actual tears running down my cheeks I am so scared to get on that airplane Sunday morning.

And why?  Well, if you thought you might not be around for this:

You might cry too.

So am I the only one?  Do you have irrational fears of something?

And don't get me started about being up in the tower of some hotel on the strip.  That's a whole other psychiatrists office visit.

Baseball is fun, but FIREWORKS are the best!

Cotton Candy on a STICK? Weird.
@IamBooBooLaLa and I got a chance to have a girls night out at the baseball game before I take off on my three day work trip.  We went to see a St. Paul Saints Baseball Game at Midway Stadium.

For those of you unfamiliar with our St. Paul Saints they are quite the unique club.

* They were a charter member of the Northern League until they moved to the American Association in  2005.  The Saints are First or Second in attendance every year in their league.
The real Justin Bieboar
* They have a PIG carry the balls to the umpire, this year's pig naming contest came up with Justin Bieboar (beating out Oprah Pigfry and Natalie Porkman)
* Bill Murry is co-owner and Team Psychologist - he occaisionally coaches first base, boosts morale and is in charge of 'train spotting' when he is in the stadium.

Yes, trains run directly beyond the outfield walls and scoreboard and when they come by about every 15-20 minutes the announcer says, "Train" over the PA system.  So needless to say, its a good time.

Boo Boo and I got hotdogs and cotton candy first thing then made our way to the seats.  We had GREAT seats staring directly at home plate from the third base line.  These games are fun for all ages because during each half-inning switch they do some funny game with they mad cast of characters that include a Nerd, Granny Gert, Mr. Vegas and of course Muddona!

Work it Gurrrl!
Kids do get restless though and after a bit Boo Boo and I decided to explore the stadium that boasts lots of games, a bounce house and Rainbow Playsystem.  The bounce house is of course one of her highlights.

Then we waited and watched and waited some more at the edge of our seats as the Saints pulled off a win in dramatic fashion in the Ninth Inning - a TWO OUT single that scored the winning run.  YEAH.

Friday nights at a Saints game mean FIREWORKS - and turning down the PA during to hear the crowd singing along to "Livin' on a Prayer" ala the movie Cocktail...awesome.  Boo Boo said the "Fireworks are better than baseball." but she is just five.

All that jammed into just about four hours?  I want to thank Chevrolet for getting us the tickets for sure.  We were given two tickets to the Saints game, but all the dogs and other fun were supplied by mom's wallet and The St. Paul Saints.  (We tweeted during the game if you saw the #chevyfun #chevygirls hashtags!)

Thanks everybody - now go enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Linking up today with ...fabulous but evil... for Target Tuesday!

Really WORKS!

I reviewed this stuff on Viewpoints.com and I just LOVE it.  At Target it is about $22 - THAT OTHER BRAND is almost triple the price.  I used both - giving a good two weeks between trials and found that the Olay version is exactly the same if not better.  My pores look smaller when I use it and I can really tell it makes an impact on my wrinkles.

Since it is MY birthday and I am *mumble* I know all about the wrinkles.

Which brings me to this contest I was running with SUPER by Perricone.

and the winner is...

comment FIVE which was made by Mama J at Raising Z and Little C - Please read this thoughtful and good blog friend please!  And J - send me your address and the item you would like!

Peace all!

Boo Boo is iCarly!

I don't think I ever forced you to watch this before...

I found it interesting because of two things.

1) Boo Boo is still afraid of the gorillas at the Como Zoo.  She finds them "angry" - but lions?  Oh they are COOL.  And she was so excited that it ROARED while she was there.

2) I don't have that rocking chair or pile of crap in my hall any longer.  Nope.  A beautiful wicker chair my father painted brown for me and that hall is repainted and looks beautiful.  ;)

Happy Saturday - Boo Boo and I got nothing going on and Daddy is golfing in The Bastard Open - follow them on Twittah

Comcast Service Center

Friday, June 17, 2011

Last night was the first time I ever had to set foot in a Comcast Service Center - and I hope its the LAST time ever.  The only reason I had to go was to return my modem - I wised up and realized you don't have to RENT one you can BUY your own....saving me $10 every month thankyouverymuch so it was worth it - but it was QUITE the experience for @Iambooboolala and myself.

There was way too touchy-feely couple

Old dude who couldn't remember why he was there...

Scary dude you wonder what he is thinking as he stares at you in an uncomfortable manner.

Foreign guy who doesn't understand the guy behind the counter trying to help him pay his overdue bill.
And what would the world be without dude wearing inappropriate shorts?
Happy Friday My Cable-Lovers!

p.s. not actual photos of the people watching
p.p.s. enter the giveaway! ends Monday June 20 at midnight central time.

O-Mega - New Super Product with Chia Omega 3

Monday, June 13, 2011

Perricone contacted me to do a Perricone SUPER Giveaway and I could not resist when I saw the focus of their new line SUPER, and the prices seemed right to me too - what's not to love about that?
Just $40

SUPER is all about the science of using super foods to nourish, heal, and protect your skin.  I personally believe that foods and plain old water have powers to work magic!  And in this line by Perricone the first item I honed in on was O-Mega Moisture with chia omega 3 - my skin is very dry and the buzz on this is  that it is a richly moisturizing cream that absorbs quickly for deep hydration in  dry skin types.  Its made with Chia, a tiny seed that delivers more Omega-3 than flax or fish!

Only $30! and smells great!

And since it is summer and we all want to look FABULOUS...how about SUPER-model legs?  This tinted lotion has pepper capsaicin to enhance skin's natural radiance and makes your legs sleek and shimmery!

"Okay", you are saying right about now, "What is the SUPER giveaway?!?"

One lucky commenter/reader will get their product (1) of choice (value maximum $150) from Perricone.  To be selected you must:

  1. Be a resident of the U.S. or Canada
  2. Follow Mommy's Nest with GFC
  3. Go to the SUPER website and select your favorite product and comment here WHY you selected/need that product
Comments made prior to 11:59pm June 20th will be eligible and the winner selected June 21st by me at random.  That happens to be MY birthday, but you get the cool gift.  You know that is how I roll.

I am receiving my own Perricone Super product (valued under $150) for having that link in my sidebar and you get the same if you win!  Thank you Perricone!

Mastercard needs a new ad agency...

Friday, June 10, 2011

Seriously?  This commercial is BUGGING ME SO MUCH.  I couldn't find the US version, but the Aussie version is basically the same video with different voice-over.

Why on EARTH Mastercard would you want to have commercial that showed a guy buying a toothbrush "just in case" for a FIRST DATE?!?!?!?!

No, I am not a prude and I realize that people have sex on first dates sometimes...but really Mastercard?  Do you have to go there?  And if you are going to "go there" where were the condoms he should have purchased for this first date?  Hmmmm?  Too MUCH for your television audience Mastercard?  Then DON'T have someone buying a g-d TOOTHBRUSH "JUST IN CASE" for a FIRST FREAKING DATE.

If I were that girl and found out he did that...it would have been OVER right then and there.

*clears throat and steps off soapbox*

Enjoy your weekend and don't forget to brush and floss peeps.

Target Tuesday - Does Suave Dry Shampoo Really Work?

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

Yes, the answer is YES!*

This can of $2.74 goodness from your local Target can help you not have to wash your hair for 3-4 days!

I highly recommend having a couple on hand so you don't run out mid-shampoo.

See what everyone else has to recommend today:

*The answer is YES if you have fine, thin, blond hair like I do. If you have any other color or combo of hair type I cannot guarantee results.  But this stuff smells so good and for $2.74 it is worth a shot!

#Winning Monday Minute

Monday Minute

Such QUESTIONS this week!

1 - What part of 'no' do you not understand? I think its the "n" I just don't get - I mean the "o" is a circle, but just what is the "n"?

2 - Which current reality show do you think you could win? That recipe one with Guy Fieri on Food Network.

3 - Would you amputate your right arm for ten million dollars? I really don't think I would.

4 - If I say, just bring it - what you got? Potato Salad.

and finally...

5 - You are opening a restaurant.  What type or theme of food are you serving? Okay back in college my friend Krista and I were determined to stay in Colorado and NOT come back to college after spring break.  We were LOVING Aspen.  We went to a real estate office and actually looked at THREE properties before concluding we really didn't have the money to open a restaurant and that we would probably get sued by Don Henley and crew if we opened "The Hotel California" in Eagle, Colorado.  :P

Now for a little "bidness"!
