I feel bad.

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

All week I had been dreading Monday Night Football.

Yes. I play Fantasy Football.

This week?  I was matched up against a player I just did not want to lose to - and I lost last week.
Second loss of the season!

I was COOKED though.  COOKED.  My QB is Peyton Manning and I had Cutler as my backup.

Bye.
Groin Injury.

Ugh.

Picked up one of two options - Keenum got me 28 pts.  Too bad I didn't pickup the other guy. Who knew Nick Foles would step in and score Peyton Manning style numbers.

I was up against Aaron Rodgers.  OMG.  I am COOKED.  And my opponent also had Eddie Lacy.

Goose.  Cooked.

I said out loud several times this week that I hoped the Bears took Rodgers down.

First Quarter - Huh, that hit looked hard.  And they are kicking the field goal?  Huh?

My husband blew it off - "Rodgers is tough. He'll be back."

Nope.

I won by the hair of my chinny chin chin.

I don't know how to explain it.

Maybe God is a Bears Fan after all?

Monday Minute

Such QUESTIONS this week!

1 - What part of 'no' do you not understand? I think its the "n" I just don't get - I mean the "o" is a circle, but just what is the "n"?

2 - Which current reality show do you think you could win? That recipe one with Guy Fieri on Food Network.

3 - Would you amputate your right arm for ten million dollars? I really don't think I would.

4 - If I say, just bring it - what you got? Potato Salad.

and finally...

5 - You are opening a restaurant.  What type or theme of food are you serving? Okay back in college my friend Krista and I were determined to stay in Colorado and NOT come back to college after spring break.  We were LOVING Aspen.  We went to a real estate office and actually looked at THREE properties before concluding we really didn't have the money to open a restaurant and that we would probably get sued by Don Henley and crew if we opened "The Hotel California" in Eagle, Colorado.  :P

Now for a little "bidness"!

Monday Minute Memorial Weekend Edition

Monday, May 30, 2011

1 - Aside from your armpits, what body part of yours sweats the most?
My head - really if I start to sweat I sweat out my head first...and with fine hair that is so! fun!

2 - You have two slices of bread.  You can add one additional ingredient to make a sandwich, but as much of it as you want.  What are you putting on it?
Cheese, duh!

3 - Can you put your entire fist into your mouth?
Not even close. No.

4 - Open your email.  How many emails do you have in your 'Inbox'?
10 in my work email - just finished clearing it out.

and finally...

5 - If an adult male is taken for ransom, is that considered kidnapping?
I am not sure how to answer this except to say:

Kidnapping is a common law offence requiring:
  1. that one person takes another person away;
  2. by force or fraud;
  3. without the consent of the person taken;
  4. without lawful excuse.[2]

At least according to Wikepedia

Monday Minute - All about myself!

Monday, October 25, 2010

Today is Monday - and we are joining Christy for the Monday Minute - you link up too if you like!

1) Have you ever been hospitalized? (OK, maybe that one isn't so upbeat)

2) What’s the last bit of good news you received?

3) Who was your favorite teacher?

4) Do you sing in the shower?

(5) Describe the happiest day of your life.

  1. Yes, I have been hospitalized.  The worst was when I got an infection from my spine operation - I had a disc pushing on nerves down my right arm and they cut off the part that was protruding - I was in and out in a day for the surgery and back for a WEEK from the infection.  I was REALLY sick and got very weak, but they took good care of me.
  2. That my mom wants to bring pizza over one night this week and hang out with my Boo Boo La La!
  3. I had GREAT elementary school teachers, Ms. Rossum and Mrs. Bleck stand out there - and in High School I really liked Mr. Sinks - I am sure many would disagree with me on him!!!  But my favorite teacher was the lawyer who taught my online ethics class at Capella!
  4. Not out loud; I do hear music in my head frequently.
  5. I would have to say the happiest day was the day I had my daughter.  I was not at all sure I would be good at managing the pain of childbirth, but I was totally surprised at how quickly it all went for us.  Quick summary: I was checked in January 8th just after dinner to be induced January 9th because of my age and blood pressure.  I went into labor in the night and the nurses kept telling me I was not in labor as the monitor was not picking up on the contractions.  About 6:30 am I said if I were not in labor I was going to need an epidural because I was in a good amount of pain already...the shift change was happening so about 8am finally someone showed up to give me the epidural and start pitossin.  The nurse wanted to check how dialated I was and WHOOSH!  My water broke and my daughter shot down the birth canal.  YES, it can happen that fast.  They had to grab a random doctor in the hall as they were on the phone with my doctor telling him they were starting pitossin; my doctor made it to the room just moments after Boo Boo was born and that only took about 20 minutes!  I was so happy it was quick, relatively easy, and that I got such a healthy baby!
10/26/10 update - if it was not clear in the sequence of events - I did NOT get an epidural and had a drug-free birth with my Boo Boo La La.  When the water broke and she started crowning it was too late.  But it was sooooo fast I didn't need them anyway.

Hope you enjoy the Monday Minute and can play along with Christy who took it over from Ian!

Can you believe it - Bad Mommy Monday Minute

Monday, October 4, 2010

I took Boo Boo La La apple picking for the very first time and FORGOT to take our camera - and my phone was pretty much dead so no pictures.  Not one.  But that meant we had a good time not worrying about getting the "right" picture too so perhaps it was not a loss.

She made a cute friend Owen, but he lives about 90 minutes away from us...sigh.

Since its Monday and I spent the weekend apple picking, tea-partying(not the same as being a tea-bagger this was an ACTUAL party at my neighbors), apple crisp baking, cooking, cleaning, laundry do-ing and putting away, Sunday School teaching and more I decided to participate in the Monday Minute - join up here too if you like with Christy:
Questions:

(1) What's your biggest pet peeve? Poor driving ettiquette - I think I need to start a school for people to learn how to merge - what to do at stop signs, etc.

(2) Describe your first kiss.  There was lots of Bonne Belle lip smacker behind the bowling alley.

(3) Describe the drunkest night of your life (or at least, the drunkest night you remember).  Wow...I don't even know where to go with this one...I got drunk once with my mom my senior year of high school.  It was New Year's Eve and she and I had about three pitchers of margaritas before my dad got home for dinner - then I went out with friends and my boyfriend ended up sleeping at our house.  I told my dad it was because Krissy didn't know how to get to his house...They lived about two blocks from each other in the next town over from mine.  I also rambled something about people throwing puppies in a ditch....

(4) What's the last movie you saw and what did you think of it?  I watched Juno.  Not what I expected, but I liked it even more for that.

(5) Do you prefer to take a bath or a shower?  I go back and forth on this...I love baths, but sometimes crave a shower.

Enjoy your Monday Peeps!

Ian's Final Monday Minute!

Monday, September 20, 2010

This week's Monday Minute is co-hosted by none other than the world famous, Laura the Purse Blogger. She wrote the first three, Ian wrote the last two. Enjoy!

  1. Have you ever lied on one of your Monday Minute answers?  My only sin has been omission!
  2. What is on your bedside table? LOTS of books, read and unread, about three kinds of body lotion, my cheaters, a lamp, a wine glass, and dust.
  3. Lose your sight or hearing? Sight - I was in radio and sound is VERY important to me.
  4. Would you rather give up all kinds of sexual contact for one full year or give up your DVR for three months?  I don't even OWN a DVR.  I cannot be bothered to worry about television.
  5. Name one thing that you are proud of that you've accomplished in your life.  My daughter being born a healther and happy human being - and so far staying that way!

Next week the Monday Minute Moves!

Monday Minute - You may want to win it!

Monday Minute

Ian has the Monday Minute again this week - until it finds a new home.  Anyone can create a post and try to win this cool meme.

Anywhoodle!  Here are this weeks Q's.

1 - Who is your favorite childhood superhero?  O Mighty Isis!  Yeah, I am old. (sorry about the commercial in the video first - it is quick!)

2 - List something you have done for pure shock value.  Entered a "Screaming Ogasm" contest at a bar - I won and got $100 because I thought, "Less profanity and screaming - MORE Meg Ryan"

3 - What is the most recent thing someone has said/done to you that left you picking your jaw up off of the floor.
I really am not ready to talk about this one yet...It was painful and made me want to punch this person and never speak to them again.

4 - Do you have a moment where you gained clarity about your life?  I know who I am if that is what you mean...

5 - What are you doing to achieve your biggest dream?  Buying lottery tickets.  :P

Monday Minute

So I don't know where the whuck I was...Ian from The Daily Dose of Reality has apparently passed along his Monday Minute to Heather and Melissa - so let's play!

*Favorite 80's Flick
WOW!  Is this hard because I love anything that had Molly Ringwald in it - except Fresh Horses, that was stupid.  I will say Weird Science because they made that shizz into a tv show

*One genre of music needs to be banned, which genre?
Gangter Rap - with the exception of Snoop D - O - Double G.

*All Time Favorite Candy
Snickers if its frozen - Twix if its not.

*How "flawed" is your driving record
There are no bench warrents out for my arrest.

*What was your High School Mascot?
HAWK!

*What color socks are you wearing?
(what kind of question is this?  Its AUGUST!) None, I have on my standard issue summer-time flipity-flops y'all!

Now you go play nice with the girls too.

Gentle-Ian's Monday Minute for July 12, 2010

Monday, July 12, 2010

1. Can you burp the ABC's?

Nope, never tried though.

2. So lets just say you have a 9+ hour drive ahead of you would you consider wearing Depends so you didn't have to stop multiple times?

No - I see stopping as an excuse to enjoy the countryside I am driving through.  Howdy folks!  ;)
3. Would you rather...run your tongue down five feet of a NYC street or press your tongue into a strangers nostril?

Umm.  Neither.  But if I have to choose I would put my tongue in a strangers nostril - except I get to pick the stranger!
4. If you had an envelope that contained the date you would die would you open it?

No I would not.  I had the opportunity to "calculate" my death using a formula in college from Emanuel Swedenborg and I chose NOT to participte.  Self-fulfilling prophecy and all that...

5. Which one song describes your sex life best?

Heh heh.

and finally...

5 - What's your best advice for us habitual coffee drinkers as to not have to poop right after drinking it? Quit drinking coffee.  ;)

Monday Minute

Because today - I really only have a minute. I am too crabby to devote any further time...you would get bored with my ranting I tell you!!!

  1. What drugs have you done in your life?  I really don't have an answer other than I have had several sugeries and they gave me good drugs then!
  2. A/S/L? 42 for less than 2 more months/F/Work/St. Paul ...blah!
  3. Do you pick your nose?  Of course...you ALL DO!  Liars if you said no.
  4. What's your favorite childhood cartoon?  I liked Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street the best, but they were not cartoons.  So I will go with The Flintstones...except now I think Betty and Wilma were RAGS - they did nothing but complain and go shopping.
  5. List the URL, of what you believe to be the best blog post you've ever done.  This is tough so...
Here is my favorite "snippy" post - http://www.mommysnest.com/2008/04/too-busy.html
Here is the post that explains how I come from a long line of "chicky-babes" http://www.mommysnest.com/2008/02/i-read-blog-of-this-fabulous-chefchicky.html
My favorite Boo Boo post was Saturday, I think...but the poop ones are good too - or the shameless photo blog...I really can't pick.

I love my blog and that is why I write it!

Monday, April 19, 2010

When I was on a Girl Scout canoe trip in the Boundry Waters...yes.

2 - If you won $1,000, what's the first thing you would do with it besides give me a cut?
Sorry, no cut for you.  I would spend it on some house projects right now.

3 - What's your favorite phrase?
Wow.   This is a toughie.  I am gonna say, "No Biggie" cuz I would like that phrase to come back in style with the rest of the crap from the eighties.  ;)

WAIT - Motherbitches.

No WAIT - Really?

4 - Fill in the blank - the world would be a better place if ______ left the planet.
all the other drivers...

5 - How do you take your coffee or tea?
Herbal tea.

Gee, am I boring?

AND - I still need to play with Messy Mommy too!!! This week...

Movie Monday @ Messy Mommy

We went up to the RedBox for the very first time ever...
Boo Boo La La and I spent the weekend at my parents house because T-Bone wanted us out of the way while he scrapped the ceilings to prepare them for our home project, mentioned above.

My parents thought I should go get us a movie when I went to get lottery tickets and to fill up my car...This was the movie I thought would be least annoying.

It was pretty good.  The songs were not so memorable, the story was a nice turn on the boy meets girl theme...I love that Tiana was a strong person.

BUT THE ANIMATION!!! WOAH!  simply spectacular.  Especially the firefly sequences.  Just beautiful!!!  See if for the animation alone.  Very good.

Happy Monday!  (ugh.) I stole that from Caribou Coffee this morning.  I tweeted them...wonder what they will say about my visit today...  You can follow me @MommyLisa!
