I wonder if I am normal...

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Some days I get so frustrated.  EVERY morning I am not only responsible for getting myself and all of my stuff ready to go to work, but I have to get someone else

Awake
Dressed - argue about what she is wearing since she was 1.5
Sunscreened
Teeth brushed
Hair brushed - as she SCREAMS at me about it
Remember if she has school and get the backpack
Argue about which shoes are appropriate
Discuss who will turn on the alarm - HER unless I forget then we have to turn it off again...
To the car after running around the yard and checking on the duck, or the bunny, or the leaves, or the lights...
Buckled into her car seat
Discuss what should be on the radio for the two block drive to daycare
Out of the car
Chase to the door of daycare "I'm gonna beat you Mama!"
Jacket off
Shoes off
Maybe she tells me not to go...
Maybe a conversation with J about neighbors, school, vacation...
Hug and Kiss
Bye

Then drive the 20-30 minutes to work - all the while wishing I had done something differently that morning.

Taken time to make her a piece of toast - even if she gets breakfast at daycare
Read a story or four
Brushed her hair slower - no rush
Let her wear the flip-flops

Is it normal that I am frustrated.  Is it normal that I want a break, but I don't want a break?  I don't want to miss anything, but sometimes you miss little things.  And time is something you never get back.

Normal. How can we have the 'perfect' day everyday? You took the time to remember those moments today, that's means something too!

First of all, how adorable is she?! I mean, really, cuteness all over the place!

Second, I am sorry I can't help with the motherhood stuff, but I would assume it's normal to be frustrated at times.

This is SO normal. And I feel bad relating so much because I am a SAHM and do not work outside the home....she is darling, you are doing a great job, and go easy on yourself. Supermom does not exist. Or this is what I tell myself.

Thanks for stopping by my blog--I'm following you now!

You are completely normal. That's when it's time for Daddy to take over and for you to go take a bubble bath paired with a glass o' vino!

She is so cute!! I don't have kids yet, but can surely imagine this is one of the toughest struggles of motherhood!

Thanks All! I think being a mom is hard no matter what. You always wish you did more, better, etc. Even my mother asked me right before Easter if I felt that I had "missed out" because we never went to our town Easter Egg Hunt growing up. (I am 42 now??)

It never even entered my mind!
