Something Scary Comes This Twitter....

Tuesday, June 30, 2020

This morning I was checking Twitter Notifications and I saw that someone "liked" one of my tweets.

I could not even think when that Tweet was from, a PINK Chevy Tahoe?

So I clicked and found it was from 2010...

What kind of time do you have on your hands that you can literally find a random tweet, from a random person, and take the time to not only like, but reply? Bot? Or Not?

Enjoy peeps!

Holidazzle Memories - Minneapolis Christmas just is not the same.

Saturday, December 23, 2017

Long ago and far away we used to have a Christmas parade in Downtown Minneapolis called Holidazzle - they now have a market they call the same, but it's not.

Here take a look at one from 2009

Isn't it strange how things remind you of people or places?

Songs will remind me of T-Bone, Boo Boo, my Brother - Dad and "Boot are Made for Walking". The weirdest being The Psychedelic Furs song that reminds me of my mom. That is a short story with no point, so #random.

It is all so strange how your mind goes - zing!

Like this:

It reminds me of summers with my Grandpa - getting paid ten cents a moth.

Or this:

Brings back memories of the 90's and Katie and Phil's wedding.

These?
Great Grandma Studer.

And when I have a glass of white wine and crave these -

I cannot help but think of my sisters and our place - Foul Play.

Foul Play is long gone.  We are not.

In fact one of us returns from Atlanta tonight!  So we will gather, reminisce, and random memories will appear in a flash! While we enjoy good friends, the Minneapolis skyline and the zillion things that make us...us.

I sat in a conference room all morning watching it snow.  Nothing stayed on the ground, it is MAY FIRST after all.  But it still put me in a mood so foul that I was tense and crabby all darn day long.

I guess I am over snow for now.

I did make it to get my haircut - fun fringe for all to view when I actually get to my phone that is active.  The nice lady from Sprint who was helping me yesterday and was supposed to help me activate the Galaxy S4 TONIGHT at 8pm actually activated it at about 4:10pm this afternoon.

The S4 is in Robbinsdale - I am in Chanhassen.

While normally that would have made me madder - I gave in, got my haircut, and am sitting while Boo Boo La La hangs with her random posse of kids at the McDonald's.  I swear that kid is JUST like her Great Granny.  Can make friends at an insurance convention.

Let us pause to remember Granny.

Yup.  She was a looker.

If you think this post had ZERO point.  You are absolutely correct.

Enjoy.

Why does it need to be plugged in?

Today I saw that we had "junked" the electric stapler at work (And the jumbo manual one for big stacks of paper).  I was kind of glad because the poor thing didn't really work anyway....

Then I saw the brand new one.

I used it and it "THUNKED" so loud I jumped.

Why do we need this?

I have lately started to look at some "conveniences" as being less than necessary.

  1. Hot Lather?  Why do this to yourself in the morning?  All hot and lathered up?
  2. Self-Flushing Toilets?  Just leave me alone - I am NOT done yet I just moved a bit. Jeez!
  3. Self-Dispensing Soap & Paper Towels?  Isn't this just an energy waste?

But I am sorry if it is wasteful.  You cannot have my Sonicare!

I love the little side gadget that "sanitizes" the brush head.  I giggle over the glow it makes.

What do you find unnecessary in life?

We were at a family birthday party over the weekend - the topic came up about how we have noticed all toys that were "non-gender specific" come in two color pallets these days - primary or pink.

It seems more and more things are made "for boys" or "for girls".

I mentioned to my cousin that I had read some backlash online about the Lego Friends aimed at girls, but I disagreed with it because the Lego Friends have cool stuff!  A jet ski, a karate studio, soccer field AND AN AIRPLANE!  Yes, these are not girly girls so I like them.

Then the bouncing was over - the party began to break up.

At the end of any good party for kids there are the gift bags.

Since Mr. J was turning three his Dear Mama made up cute sports themed bags with bouncy balls, soccer and football Frisbees, pencils and temporary tattoos.  You know?  Kid treasures.

Boo Boo was totally excited.  She loves bouncy balls and things that relate to soccer, of course!

Then I thought - hmmm.  What if this had been Miss Boo Boo's birthday and we gave out gift bags with HER favorite princess - Ariel?  Would any boys there like it?  In fact I made a point at her sixth birthday of making special "boy" gift bags for her two buddies.  We even made Spiderman instead of Ariel T-shirts as the party craft.

Was that wrong?  And just how far have we come since "Free To Be You and Me!"?

Sorry Marlo.  I may have failed you.

How to make friends.

Playing Along - Hoping to breath life in this post!

Boo Boo La La looked up at T-bone and I Halloween night after we had a sidewalk chat with another parent.

"Who was that?"

We didn't know that father with the three little kids out Trick Or Treating at all.  But you know what?  On Halloween parents talk to each other on the sidewalks like old pals.

Just like kids on the playground.

Have you noticed it too?

Adults just don't talk to each other like kids do every day.

"Do you want to play with me?" I hear Boo Boo say that when we go to parks, the pool, the beach, on vacation - anywhere she sees other kids she asks them if they want to play.

Do you do that?

No.  You don't.

There are very few times adults speak to each other like old pals or to make new friends.  It is unfortunate, but it is true.  We just don't ask each other to play.

I guess that is part of the reason I keep this blog going after so long.

It is my chance to ask you to play with me.

And you?  Why do you blog?

More please.

Happy Birthday to YOOOOOOU - HiYa Cha Cha Cha!

So yesterday was my mother's birthday and she told me she turned an "evil" age and she laughed...
What "evil" age mom?  You know, "66".  Ummm, yea.

Later when I told T-Bone he said, "You should call her back and tell her in three years she will be a FUN age."  ba-dum-bum.

Boo Boo has been finding more "gems" in the yard at daycare.  I asked her if they belong to anyone and she said, No - but I am the best gem hunter EVAH!

Momma, she asked, do I have daycare today?  Yes sweetie.  AWWWW! But tomorrow we will do something fun!  Yessss! (with the fist pump, the girl loves a good Yessss! with a fist pump.)

I got all the way to work today and realized that telling myself in my head to remember to get my wallet out of my gym bag before I left for work does not work so well when you can't even remember how old YOU are...sigh.  No latte for me.

Same as the other photo these were NOT taken by me as we are all aware around here of my TERRIBLE photography.  These are the handiwork of a fun person I call friend.

Enjoy your day!

Some people make you wonder.

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

The lady who walks aimlessly around the Y every morning - not really working out, just going through the motions.  It seems more like she needs the company.

The tiny lady who sits in her convertible in the parking lot at work - laying there with her eyes closed and the car running.

The blogger who just stopped blogging one day - who was my friend and now is not even locatable on Facebook.  We used to be friends anyway and I miss him very much.

And then there is myself.  I am kinda weird you know.

I bet you wonder too.  Tell me.  What do you wonder about?

Where to start?

Friday, February 24, 2012

Wow.  I have been so slack on posting.

Really.  Super-slacker.

What I found is that I have more time for Twitter - but even that is slacking.  And my friend Michelle is on there now!!!! How can I be slacking?

And reading blogs?  YIKES!!!! I gotta catch up with y'all.

Its been, work, people being sick (including my pink eye!!!??!), the gym, laundry, a visit to my Sair at college, girl scouts, kid-fu, PTO, fighting "the man" and general mayhem.

How have YOU been?  (p.s. Boo Boo is in the tub so I am heading out to read blogs now!)

Take a look around..

Thursday, April 14, 2011

So welcome - this is the new design thanks to Kate.

Still some things to tweek, but whattayathink?

Been busy - but nothing too exciting.  My boss took three of us to a Twins game yesterday and they lost to the Kansas City Royals. BOO!  But I won tickets from a contest on Gust Gab's blog so they can make it up to me then and pound on the Seattle Mariners.  Yeah!

Do you like sports?  Football, Baseball, Golf - nothing?

Eight and One

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Sprinkles at the blog wyldechylde tagged me with these eight questions.  I like to answer them, but do not like to tag others - so if you want to play please...and let me know if you did with a link to your blog.

1. Have you ever seen a ghost? If you have, what's the story behind it? No - I have never seen a ghost, but when I was younger I was sure there was one living in my room that would change my radio station or turn on my stereo.  I called him Ralph.

2. What is your most embarassing moment? Have you got a few years?

3. What was your best job and why? The best job I ever had was teaching swim lessons and being a lifeguard at Round Lake in Eden Prairie.  It was a blast.  Isn't THAT sad?  I loved my jobs in radio too and there are things I like about every job, but that one was the most fun all around.

4. What was your worst job and why? Probably the summer I worked temp at a bakery warehouse picking muffins off a line and putting them on trays to be packaged and sold in convenience stores across the land.  I still hate the idea of lemon poppyseed muffins.  bleh.

5. If you won the lottery, what would you do with the $?  Make my mom retire, pay bills, remodel my home - or if its a superhugeamount - build a home on a lake and fund research for good things or support an inner city school.

6. Have you met any celebrities? If you have, what's the story behind it?  Have you got some time?  I have met quite a few celebrities - Tom & Roseanne owned their Big Food Diner when I was working radio in Ottumwa, IA - I got felt up by Greg Brady when they were taking a promotional picture for the station in Indy...I got a total body hug from Peter Tork of the Monkees - many many sports figures, I drove Bill Murray once...They are not that special.  They are nice or not - dorky or cool.  They are just people and they even tell dirty jokes.

7. What is your favorite childhood memory? My parents gave me a great childhood.  How can I choose?  I guess my favorite time was when we drove to Colorado and back...it was pretty fun.  But all our trips were cool - even the "from hell" road trip to Florida where the electrical went and we could not roll down the windows.  "What DIED up in there???" hee hee.

8. What's your biggest regret?  Hindsight is 20/20 - you can wish you didn't do something, or DID do something, but you have to move on and not think about it.  Sorry - I am not regretting.

And now for the sonnett of the day.  :)

This I imagined in my head as a "lyric" to an unfinished song...OMG so embarrassing if you could even HEAR THIS CRAP in YOUR head.  Ugh.  Here goes...

I'm in love with you tonight
and I know the feelings right
Its in everything you do
you make me feel so right.

How Don Johnson is that?

Coming Soon to Mommy's Nest!!

My parents recently emptied their attic and called my brother and I over to claim what we wanted, the rest would go in the garage sale!  In amongst the Play Skool toy sets, old t-shirts and memorabilia was a notebook.  Yes - a ratty old composition book that I had when I lived in NORWAY!

I tell you this because that notebook is FILLED with all kinds of crappy poetry that a young girl would write.  Just really lame stuff.  And I am going to share it with you starting Sunday!!!  Yes - all of August will be SILLY SONNETS on Mommy's Nest.

Your welcome!

(now that will REALLY drive down my followers numbers for SURE!)

Random Bits and Memories - or - I Remember Mama

Thursday, May 6, 2010

So I got the idea from a fellow MN Blogger - Smonk You - and his blog yesterday...

No not the aliens.  I am almost as afraid of them as I am of The Real Housewives of New Jersey...
gawd, Don't Tell Theresa I said that!

Earliest memories; today you get a few of mine.

One of my earliest memories living in Blue Earth was the Tupperware...everywhere!  My mommy sold Tupperware and I had all the TOYS.  Perfect, cuz I was only 2.5.

Then we moved from that blue house in Blue Earth to an OLD house.  I remember getting my big girl bed complete with pink canopy & getting our doggy.  I recall my mother asking me what we should name him and I said in a very serious little voice, "Rufus."  Yes, I had another Rufus...

Then we moved to a farmhouse and I have a distinct memory here!  My mother told me NOT to drink all the pickle juice from the jar and my nearly four-year-old did NOT listen (pattern?) and I drank ALL the pickle juice in the jar, then proceeded to THROW UP a streak of pickles and juice from the living room - through the kitchen - into the bathroom.  poor mom!

There are many more.  Trying to poop in the dark in the potty in my room.  (stairs were treacherous in the old farmhouse.)  My brother needing the Vick's Vaporizor as a baby & PEEING at me when I was helping mom change him.  Walking home from school, getting picked on at daycare for only using the purple crayon on a picture - I VARIED the pressure and design to create my masterpiece.

And I REALLY remember the Blue Earth Fairgrounds where:

  • My parents put all of us kids in the back of a truck to shuck corn for the Jaycees booth in the grandstand.  (DADDY WAS THE PRESIDENT!)
  • I played pick-a-duck and rode the Tilt-A-Whirl with my babysitter.
  • We had my cool birthday party with the lemon cake with whipped cream frosting and plastic yellow flowers...that was my favorite!

I had a charmed childhood.  Summers with grandparents who doted on the only grandchild who lived within 1000 miles of them & parents who took me EVERYWHERE.

Now, how about you?  What is YOUR earliest memory?

Is it weird? Or just me?

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

Is it weird that last Sunday I asked my husband how my step-son dented his truck...and he doesn't even have it anymore because he sold it over a week ago?

Is it weird that I look back at old pictures of me from swim team and wonder why I wasn't more popular?  Damn...I was cute.  I will have to scan that one in tonight for you.

Is it weird that I asked my husband twice what the name of the store was that someone used his credit card to buy a television at - and now I can't remember the name of the store?  Yup!  Someone went on a shopping spree with hubby's Visa yesterday and it wasn't ME!

Is it weird that I was never even CLOSE to being prom or homecoming queen, but I dated a guy who WAS our homecoming king in high school and in college the homecoming king and a guy who was on homecoming court?  At the U of MN!!!  Go Gophers!

Is it weird that I like to wear PALE fingernail polish and DARK toenail polish?

Is it weird that I think underwear should cost no more than one dollar, but I always spend more than that?  Its PANTIES not something everyone sees - WHY do they cost so much?  $29 Hanky Panky's?  Not happening for this mama.  $3 Fruit of the Loom? More like it.

Is it weird that I don't mind watching iCarly and Sponge Bob, but I HATE Jonas, Big Time Rush and True Jackson VP?   And don't get me started on Miley!

Is it weird that I think I am skinny - until I look into a mirror?  I have really skinny wrists and that is what I usually am looking at...

Is this post weird?  Thoughts?  Anyone?  Bueller?

I wonder if I am normal...

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Some days I get so frustrated.  EVERY morning I am not only responsible for getting myself and all of my stuff ready to go to work, but I have to get someone else

Awake
Dressed - argue about what she is wearing since she was 1.5
Sunscreened
Teeth brushed
Hair brushed - as she SCREAMS at me about it
Remember if she has school and get the backpack
Argue about which shoes are appropriate
Discuss who will turn on the alarm - HER unless I forget then we have to turn it off again...
To the car after running around the yard and checking on the duck, or the bunny, or the leaves, or the lights...
Buckled into her car seat
Discuss what should be on the radio for the two block drive to daycare
Out of the car
Chase to the door of daycare "I'm gonna beat you Mama!"
Jacket off
Shoes off
Maybe she tells me not to go...
Maybe a conversation with J about neighbors, school, vacation...
Hug and Kiss
Bye

Then drive the 20-30 minutes to work - all the while wishing I had done something differently that morning.

Taken time to make her a piece of toast - even if she gets breakfast at daycare
Read a story or four
Brushed her hair slower - no rush
Let her wear the flip-flops

Is it normal that I am frustrated.  Is it normal that I want a break, but I don't want a break?  I don't want to miss anything, but sometimes you miss little things.  And time is something you never get back.

The Gay 90's - Bone Thugs N' Harmony - Tegan and Sara & My Feria!

Friday, March 26, 2010

Okay - here are some random bits from a week that was pretty random-ly fun!
  1. I got home from the Y this morning and T-bone said, "I really like your hair color."  umm - duh Pavlov it is Feria Pure Diamond; the color I was the day you met me...it is my "go to" haircolor.
  2. I am going to lunch with Candice today - I need to figure out a suggestion where to go...
  3. Boo Boo was clinging to the window sill next to her bed when I tried to get her up.  It was really cute & she convinced me to cuddle with her and then read a book before actually getting up and dressed.  I picked my favorite story - Tiny Rabbit goes to a Birthday Party! - she loves it too.
  4. Tomorrow I am making the KILLER lasagna!
  5. I got my haircut because I have the bestest sister-in-law on the planet!
  6. I have the most AMAZING friend in the world because of another dear old friend.  Thanks Amy for being Josh's roomate, thanks Josh for marrying Becky.
  7. I got to eat awesome pizza with Becky this week and wander over to see a great concert.  (thus the Friday video...it is FROM THE ACTUAL SHOW...I did not take it.

My review of Tegan and Sara's show - we missed Holly Miranda, Steel Train made me feel old because they kept talking about 7th grade angst!!!

Tegan and Sara?  OMG I love, love, love these women!  I have heard a few of their songs, but the show made me a big fan.  They are funny and likable and their music reminded me of two things, the 80's with the electronic-y stuff they did and Kate Bush.  Sara has the most AMAZING voice that reminded me of the delicate strength of Kate Bush.
I hope she thinks that is a compliment!

Happy Friday my little love palms!

Random Stuff

Thursday, January 21, 2010

So I am in this class - my LAST class for my BS in Business - and the whole thing is a
FREAKING GROUP PROJECT!!!
I am sooooo going to be pissed off if it messes with my perfect 4.0

The issue is that three of us have been participating, and I think working well together, since day ONE of our assigned groups.  The other two cannot even be bothered to register for the online simulation until late in the game, then they whine and complain about the schedule we have set up - (the woman) - act all confused and do not contribute to the discussion even when asked a direct question!!  (the man, of course!)  ;)

PEOPLE SUCK!

Except my dear friend Patty - who took these awesome pictures of Boo Boo over the New Year weekend:

Ski-Doo Boo Boo

Boo Boo Princess

Tonight is our company holiday party - whoop whoop - in St. Paul, natch, and there will be an ice storm so I guess I will be drinking my own glass of wine at home instead of all the free wine.  BOO!

Then today - cruising the blogs I read - I saw this on Alphaville and...

HAD TO SHARE!

Enjoy my little ice pellets!
