Ohhh Baby I Must HAVE You....

Mama’s Losin’ It This weeks prompt I selected....

4.) You stole WHAT!?! Spill

My college girlfriends and I get together from time to time for holiday parties, happy hours, bbq's...

One sleep deprived winter we decided to reserve a room at a local restaurant because no one could get it together to have a holiday party in their home.

An elegant restaurant was selected.

The guests were invited.

Babysitters booked - or husband's roped into giving Saturday bath's and putting the kids to bed.

Awaitng the table I have a lovely glass of Spanish white at the ever-so-hip dimly lit bar.

We are seated and well, it's a tapas restaurant, but not everyone is into the type of food that they serve.  I can't listen to the conversation because I will eat anything.  You ladies just order.
It's cool.

I order more wine.

I drink more wine.

I begin to think to myself. "Self, this is a pretty cool wine glass.  Seems like it might hold half a bottle or so...hmmm.  Self, I would love to have this glass."

I order more wine.

I slip a glass into my massive tote bag/mommy purse.

The waiter brings me my new glass of lovely Spanish white and I drink it.

In honor of this being the Finale of Top Chef All Stars...

And since we cannot get THE WINE CUBE, or T-Box in Minnesota
Yeah in the HOME STATE Of Target you cannot tap a T-Box*

I will settle for a set of these Riedel Vivant Pinot Noir Tumblers...
The Top Chef Cookbook....
That's right, the geekier looking the cuter to me!
PREFERABLY the one signed by my Cheftestant Hero Rick Bayless...
And of course Tom Colicchio's book, "Think Like a Chef"
How would you Tar-jay today?

*Who is up for a roadtrip to Eau Claire, WI for my birthday?
Its the nearest Target with T-Box availability
- Four Hours of roundtrip fun with ME in a car to buy wine!
Its in June, there will hopefully not be any snow.

Quite some time ago I heard this joke...

Yes, Jenny from Flipping Out introduced me to that freaking STUPID joke and I laughed myself SILLY for a couple of weeks.  Yup.  I am a nine-year-old boy.

I even googled it and got this:

ALMOST was my FB profile photo back then...
Hubby came RUNNING up the stairs on Saturday, "Are you watching something important?"

No...

grabs channel changer and BLAMMO!  Trace Adkins...

Okay, I liked Trace Adkins from what I saw of him on Celbrity Apprentice, but now I am in LUST.
What a great song...

Hubby and I giggled for the rest of the night.

Boo Boo & Frosty The Snowman

Saturday, March 26, 2011

Mommy?  When can we build a snowman?
Ahhh, ask your Dad.
Daddy?  When can we build a snowman?
The snow isn't quite right to build one honey.  Maybe next snowfall.

As the heaps and mounds of snow began to melt...

Mommy!!  I didn't get to build any snowman!
Oh Boo Boo, I am sorry - maybe it will snow again.

DADDY YOU FORGOT TO HELP ME BUILD A SNOWMAN!!
I am sorry sweetie-pie.  We might still get a chance.

So, despite the fact the snow wasn't quite right for making a snowman
Daddy got Boo Boo outside on Wednesday night before dinner
And Frosty* was born.
Complete with sparkplug nose, Chistmas light eyes, and a Harley hat from Las Vegas!

Make a funny face for Mama Frosty!
*While Boo Boo is smart, funny, and very cute. The girl is not too creative with the names.
Her panda is Panda, her bears are Beary and Claire Bear...so fogive us the Frosty. ;P

For the girls...

I almost think that is a better version than the one we saw at Willow Creek

Subject: Our own Wear Red Day!

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

My Mom sent this out:

Tomorrow, March 23, is Michelle’s Birthday. Let’s all wear something Red (Her Favorite Color) and let Aunt Penny know that we are thinking of her.

Aunt Irene said:

I still remember the day after a heavy snow when Michelle set off to work at St. John’s on cross country skis. Let’s be spunky like her?

Me:

Sounds great. I will put @IamBooBooLaLa in red too.

Cousin Franny:

Great idea! We could send Aunt Penny pictures.
My Brother:

...wearing about my only red item in my closet- a polo with a red stripe on the front.

Over twenty years ago I lost my cousin because her heart stopped*.  Today she would have turned forty-four just about exactly three months before me.  Our moms are close - and we spent much of our childhood together.  Even our first concert - Shawn Cassidy - was attended together.
She was spunky!
Damn could she be downright FUNNY!
She was RED!
She is loved more than you can wrap up in a silly blog post.

*Yes, my cousin was VERY young when she passed away.  She had a pacemaker and defibrillator inside her tiny body keeping her heart from going to fast or too slow.  She was put on the heart transplant list shortly before she left us to go to heaven.

Target Tuesday

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

It must be said that I went to school from second grade through High School graduation with the inventor of the Target Patch.  But I don't buy them...

I have the Target Disease.

So I am linking up for Target Tuesday with Fabulous But Evil! and sharing what I am loving at my favorte store.

mwah-ha-ha!

Totally Better than Philosophy's!

The PERFECT T- I own like 12.

I dreamed about this for two weeks then bought it.
What will you buy at Tar-jay today?

And where did you put your sign?

Monday, March 21, 2011

So a while ago I had a giveaway for some window clings and I asked if winners would send me a picture of what they actually did with that window cling - and I got two GREAT pictures. (If you are reading this and still want to send me your photo - please do!)

Beth at Anti-SuperMom has a son who is obsessed with signs so her cling went into is room.  I love the way his room color made the CAUTION pop!

Then I got this one from J who is an Awesome Mom & Red Sox fan at Raising Z & Little C...DARING to send this to Twins Territory...
Her son loves to sing along to songs on his playlist so this was perfect for their vehichle.
Thank you J.

I follow both of these women's blogs - you should be doing it too!  :)

And remember if you need any printed item from a small window cling to a big birthday banner - give BuildASign.com the chance to help you out!  I am doing another review for them in April on their newest cool thing - Canvas Prints - I am VERY excited to show you what I selected.

The last song of my workout today.

So its "lamenting" but such a damn fun bubble-gum sound that I dare you not to be smiling by the time you are sixty seconds into this song...

Happy Friday Peeps!

p.s. if I read your blog and don't have your badge on my Peeps tab above - tell me to come grab it!

Seven Deadly Things

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

I am really really really lame lately.  I cannot think of much to blog about.

Sure, life is happening, but I cannot seem to pull it all into a decent post.

So you get this that I promised to write nearly two months ago for my friend at the blog Know When To Shut-Up! because I am telling you I am SERIOUSLY LAME these days.

Sorry Mel.  I am lame.

Seven Things You May Not Know About Me

  1. I was a lifeguard for many years and taught most of the kids in Eden Prairie, MN how to swim at the Community Center between 1986 and 1988.
  2. One summer I temped at McGlynn's bakery and lost a fake nail in a frozen struddle mishap. I apologize if you purchased said struddle.
  3. Not only did I work in radio, but so did my brother and grandmother.
  4. I spent THREE plus years trying to get pregnant with @IamBooBooLaLa and then pushed her out with no drugs after a mere five hours of labor and twenty minutes of pushing.  Got lucky.
  5. I breastfed my daughter for twenty-two months.  That is MONTHS, not weeks or days.  And I am not a hippie or member of the La Leche League.
  6. My husband and I have a small collection of snow globes that started with one he bought me after a big fight.
  7. I buy Powerball and Hot Lotto tickets every drawing. It was my substitute for my smoking habit that I kicked...so nyah!

I hope you enjoyed this and will take your turn!  If you do remember to direct me to your post!  And please try to enable email responses to your comments...I WANT to reply back to you.  Enabling me to email you from the comment makes it so much easier!

Suck It Fancy! ;)

Thursday, March 10, 2011

I was GOING to write something for Mama Kat's Writers Worksop - and I started, but my poem sucked.  Nothing new there.

VERIFY YOURSELF!
there is a Madonna song in there somewhere...
And sometime last week I entered this contest with The Animated Woman - and dang it if she didn't tweet me last night that, that, that,

I WON!
and this is my winning entry - the thought bubble part I am not the artist!
and I get to be ALL KINDS
of cool and sport this t-shirt in the near future.

Will the honors and verification never end?
Yeah ME!

Happy Birthday Grandma!!! (and a recipe)

Sunday, March 6, 2011

Even Physical Therapy gets her to smile.
That is my darling girl, age 5, with her Great-Grandmother about 6 weeks ago.  Granny turned 97 on Thursday and today we are in Albert Lea, MN celebrating the best granny EVER!

I found the perfect card that talked about rule breaking and fun having.  Granny let us do all kinds of crazy things at her house.
  • Make corn-husk dolls
  • Make up games
  • Cook, bake, blender up a shake - and mix a martini or two
  • Color with the iris and day-lily blooms we dead-headed
  • Go swimming
  • Be silly
  • Stay up late and listen to the radio - even call in to those late night programs
  • Play Scrabble
  • Tell stories to each other in bed
  • Sleep out on the porch
  • Inspire, Love and Adore

The BEAUTIFUL Birthday Girl with 3 of her 5 Great-Grandchildren
Happy NINTEY SEVENTH BIRTHDAY Lausy!

Here is something she might love!

I was watching Food Network last weekend...per usual.  And I watched not one, but TWO hosts make a chicken stew of some kind.  It put me in the mood, but since I was NOT in the mood for beans Saturday with the idea of refried later that evening at my in-laws I made this stew up out of my head.

Enjoy.

3 Sausages - I used Chicken Apple without casings - here is where you can be flexible, use what you like.  I would suggest staying away from a spicy sausage as it would negate the herbs I used.  I considered Chicken Garlic/Spinach and a mild Itallian - but I just LOVE Chicken Apple.

1 chicken breast diced - raw or cooked/leftover - I was using up a lonely little breast in a bag from my freezer.  See, more flexible.  You could even use turkey - or just put in two more sausages and no chicken breast!

1 cup rice uncooked - 2 cooked! (so semi-flexible here)

1/2 cup white wine - unless you are opposed, use more chicken stock.

4 cups of stock - I used chicken of course.  But you could substitute vegetable if you prefer.

The important parts are next and I don't consider them flexible!

3 carrots
1 large onion
1 red bell pepper
1/2 cup corn
2 T. Olive Oil
1 T. Garlic chopped
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
2 bay leaves
1 tsp. thyme - dried
1/4 t cumin

Directions:  Put two tablespoons water, carrots sliced to 1/4 inch and sausages in pan - cover over medium heat for five minutes until steamy.  Remove lid and brown sausages.  Remove sausages and carrots, set aside on a plate. Add onion, thyme, salt and peper, and olive oil to pan and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes on medium heat.  Add raw chicken and cook through about 5 minutes more. (If using cooked chicken you can just add after onions are translucent).

Deglaze the pan with 1/2-1/4 c. white wine that you would drink.

Add in red bell pepper sliced, cumin, garlic and cook on medium for 2-3 minutes.

Add stock, rice, bay leaves bring to a boil, reduce heat and let simmer for 15 minutes. Then check salt and pepper to see if you need more.  (if rice is cooked just heat through at this stage)

Add in corn, sausages sliced 1/2 inch thick and the carrots and let simmer for five minutes.

Serve and enjoy!

Of course it was even better the next day.

Mother! Mother! (you do know I am forty-something, right?)

Friday, March 4, 2011

I love love love my mother - she is my FAVORITE person to talk to about stuff.  She is the best.

This past weekend our furnace went out.  Since I was taking @iambooboolala to a birthday party in their neighborhood I called and asked if I could borrow a space heater to help out until we got the part to fix the furnace.  (T-bone can fix things like that.  My best friend in college's mother told us, "Marry rich, or potential to be rich, or at least make sure he can fix shit around the house.")  My parents told us that they could locate one and asked when we would be over.

"About five."
"Okay, see you then."

Driving to the party about 2pm I get a call on my cell phone.

"Lisa Ann?"
'Yeah Dad?'
"You're mother is all worried about @Iambooboolala being too cold tonight.  Do you want her to stay with us?"
"Dad, I am half-way to Chaska now and didn't bring any clothes with for her, so I don't think that will work."
"Well..."
"Dad, T-bone has the in-floor heat going and with the space heaters the house should be just fine."
"Okay, see you later."

Mothers.
Did she really think I wouldn't keep my baby warm that I spent three years trying to get, nine months growing and twenty-two months breastfeeding?

No.  She really didn't.  She was just being a Grandma.

But it made me laugh later that day when I heard this song on the radio.

Happy Friday!

What do YOU use to clean your teeth?

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

I was outside of the bathroom waiting for Boo Boo La La to finish brushing her teeth.

Just like Mama she loves to go to the dentist - yes, we are THOSE people - and she loves to brush her teeth.  Like, last week I made the mistake of saying we were going to the dentist Wednesday on Monday.  She was sad (actually POUTED) when I picked her up Tuesday and it was not time to go to the dentist yet.

She finished brushing last night and before she put the tube away she started to animatedly deliver some very important lines into the mirror with STELLAR "Price Is Right" moves.
It was too cute for words.

She proceeds to do this with all the tubes in our cabinet - three - and then comes out of the bathroom to have me tuck her into bed.

"That was a lovely commercial."
'You SAW my commercial?  Did you like it?'
"Yes I did.  What was your toothpaste called?"
'It's called CLEAN BEST TOOTHPASTE because it cleans your teeth the best and every body needs to have some so their teeth are as clean as mine.  SEEEEEE!'
"That's awesome."

And it was...
