I am finding it increasingly difficult to get out of bed.
Not be awake, just actually crawl out of bed, shower and put on a little makeup.
Not like I ever wore THAT much makeup, but now?
Monday we went to The Minnesota State Fair with my dad - I didn't shower because I knew I would want to after I got home. I used my dry shampoo and put on sunscreen and makeup and we went on our way.
After we got home I had to shower because - yes - I was sweaty and dirty and...
We had to meet @Iambooboolala's kindergarten teacher.
I made dinner after my shower and then went upstairs, presumably to put on makeup.
I look at the clock.
5:45pm
Makeup? Now? To come home and wash it all off and put on pj's?
Sorry Ms. E.
I need a job...
What is better than bacon?
Thursday, August 25, 2011
I am channeling bacon just for Mama Kat - now before I have said - I HATE BACON!!!!
But, we all knew I was lying.
So here are the Top Ten Ways BACON is AWESOME:
10) Why else would you buy syrup? Bacon is for dipping in syrup. Duh!
9) Carbonara - I love carbonara. I mean bacon and parm? What is not to love?
8) This is Why you are FAT tried to deter me, but ummmm, bacon caramel popcorn?
![]() |
| delicious |
6) Bakon Vodka Bloody Mary's - who knew you could get bacon vodka? This gal.
5) Bacon Manhatten - I loved these at the now defunct Town Talk Diner - boozy goodness.
4) I need something to love besides Sriracha - bacon is that love.
3) So yes, the house smells after you make bacon, but it is not so bad if you do it in the oven. My hubby was kind enough to buy me racks last fall to put on cookie sheets and cook bacon. THAT is love. Of bacon...
2) Costco - if you go, you know.
1) This video:
Go ahead - make a little bacon tonight - I dare you.

I was looking for a post in my drafts - and I love this guest post I did for the now defunct blog Life As Eye See It....so the link probably takes you no where now. Don't you hate it when you lose a blogger?
sigh.
Here is MY Minnesota from the post I wrote in April of 2010.
So I created a guest post for Eye Girl at Life As Eye See It.
VERY exciting.
So today I am going to present to you:
and my little corner of it is right here...
Our home is 104 years old and I have been piece by piece creating a home that fits us all and a garden that I can enjoy....
My parents raised us here in Minnesota and always tried to take us to fun & educational events. I continue the tradition with Boo Boo La La by going to shows like...
DISNEY LIVE! - we have also seen Nemo On Ice and a really cute Mickey Mouse Adventure on Ice too.
Then there is the really cool Hopkins Stages Theatre where we have seen several shows including; Alice In Wonderland, The Paper Bag Princess, Snowy Day, and The Wizard of Oz.
My Dear Friends Mr. & Mrs. Wagner took us to a fun show at Orchestra Hall...Isnt' it BEAUTIFUL?
Another place we go to A LOT is The Minnesota Zoo. We have a membership and spend time there with our friends - Miss J, Miss K & Mr. M, and Miss M. We even Trick Or Treat at the zoo!
We also spend a GREAT deal of time at our local YMCA...especially now that they have the "Splash Pad"!
Then there is the VERY best thing of all - our family vacation each August to Breezy Point Resort.
And we appreciate all that Minnesota has to offer - both Winter & Summer.
I hope you enjoyed your little trip to our town.
sigh.

In the cold of January, bundeled up!
In the HEAT of August, sunscreened and water never far from hand.

Talk to the hand!
Saturday, August 20, 2011
....that is what my child said to the the other day.
I was in shock.
I looked down over the other side of the counter at the girl who used to be my baby and said,
"Boo Boo! You don't talk to your mother that way EVER!"
*face*
"I mean it Boo Boo if you EVER say that to me again you will be in your room for a loooooong while."
*lip out - stomp away*
It is such a disrespectful thing to say, don't you agree?
Flash forward to the car later that day and I tell T-bone, "Do you know what Boo Boo said to me? 'Talk to the hand!', can you believe it?"
"Boo Boo! You don't talk to mommy that way. WHERE did you hear that? Sair??? Where?"
*face - instant sobbin - wail*
AM I IN TROUBLE???? *WAIIIIIL*
No no no - we just want to know where you heard it. Its fine.
*snort - sob - snort - sniffle*
I heard it on .... sniffle .... Phineas and Ferb .... WAIIIIIIIL!
"Really? Huh."
See I love the Phineas and Ferb so I was kind of sad. I had to google it and I found it. Can you believe she got it from the seconds in this clip?
Kids. They have selective hearing.

My favorite song - well, the one I claim...

| i can't feel this way much longer expecting to survive with all these hidden innuendoes just waiting to arrive it's such a wavy midnight when you slip into insane electric angel rock and roller i hear what you're playing it's an orangy sky always it's some other guy it's just a broken lullaby bye bye love bye bye love bye bye love bye bye love substitution mass confusion clouds inside my head were fogging all my energies until you visited eyes of porcelain and blue could shock me into sense you think you're so illustrious you call yourself intense Seriously with Bye Bye Love & My Best Friend's Girl I was POSITIVE Ric Ocasek and The Cars were writing just for me. And when more than one boyfriend sang them in my ear...well...I felt vindicated. Whenever I need to feel better I listen to that song and imagine that I am that vixen who shocks and confuses my prey before I pounce. Now, this was more confession than short story. I hope Mama Kat forgives my license with her prompt and I get the boost I need for the four interviews ahead of me. |
I am the worst blog friend EVER!

So I have not blogged much about it - just that one line.
I lost my job.
And here I sit day after day looking at job descriptions and waiting for calls and emails - or if its a good day I am off at a job interview, but I really hate talking about myself when I have to make me sound "AWESOME" and not just be self-deprecating. I am pretty awesome, but I am also Lutheran/Scandinavian, we frown on bragging.
Anyone have ideas how to manage your time/day or stress? Transitions, no matter how positive your attitude, are stressful.
Thanks in advance for realizing how little I have been posting and why. I really appreciated the comments I got from you all saying it will be better - because IT WILL be better. Those who know me well know that I was not really that excited about my job and NOW I will await something that fuels the fire!
Off camping this weekend, will report back with pictures Monday!

Penquins at The Minnesota Zoo
Saturday, August 6, 2011
My Dad was supposed to get some one on one time with Boo Boo La La - but Mommy lost her job so he got the bonus of Mommy tagging along to the Minnesota Zoo.
We all wanted to see the new PENGUINS!
Boo Boo has become quite the little photographer - much to Mommy's dismay at having to delete so many shots of, "I just want to take another picture of the sea otter's toys Mama!" and "That girl won't mind if I take a picture of her nostrils along with the ceiling of the dolphin area!"
Most of these are her photos. Enjoy!
p.s. The penguin exhibit is NOT as large as I imagined. I have no idea why I thought it would be huge, I mean it's not like penguins are emus or something. Right?

We also attended the most fun birthday party - Mason't turned one and got some sugar from Miss Natalie!!
So CUTE!
FYI, to make a fun party for toddlers - all you need is bubble soap and a few bubble wands. ;)
Rewinding a Boo Boo on Boo Boo
Tuesday, August 2, 2011
Back on November 20th, 2007 when this story happened I had a job working out of my home office. Ah to have a job again...oh well. Enjoy how lucky I got when Boo Boo La La fell to the floor. Age 23 months!
**************************************************************
We got up this morning and I had to get Boo Boo La La right into her clothes...she HATES that! She prefers to dawdle until after breakfast to get her pj's off and into clothing. I had to bribe her with her Hi-Five t-shirt.

Thank goodness that still works.
We went down and got Jacob and took off for his ortho appointment. Then, since we were done so quickly I decided we should go to McD's...and sit at a high table...and SMACK!!!! Down went my Boo Boo!!!!!
ARGGHHH!! AWWWWWWWWW! OOOOOCHHHHIE!
We calmed her down, put ice on and packed up...taking J-dogg to school. While he talked to her and made her giggle I called the doctors...we go in very quickly...doctor, McD's and school are all within a mile of each other thank GOD!
Guess what? NOTHING is wrong...no bump, no bruise, NOTHING!
I was strangley weirded out by this and kept asking the doctor, "Are you SURE that she is fine? I heard her head HIT the McD's floor? She was screaming. ARE YOUR SURE???"
She said, no bleeding, no bump. Unless she thows up or something seems "odd" she is just fine and that happens.
HOW IN THE H - E - double toothpicks did I get so lucky.
I started to shake and cry. I had been calm prior to this.
Now, she is totally normal.
What a day and it is only one pm. Deep Breaths everyone. Keep reminding me, deep breaths.

Since Mommy is on vacation - she thought this year she might post old blogs for fun. Back from when I had like two followers - here is Saturday, October 27, 2007. p.s. I added the photo of the cake for this time around...don't know why I didn't add it the first time!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Terry got up and fed Marin breakfast so I could lay in bed for a bit...that is always a good start to the weekend.
I got up and got dressed, then we were off to Byerly's. My favorite Byerly's is the one by the old Planet Ford; but I forgot Highway 100 was closed today past 394 until I got past 55. I exited at Glendale, then we meandered around the side roads/frontage roads until we got to that Byerly's. I was okay with that, lazy Saturday with no where to really be.
We got lots of nice help from the employees as we were looking for specific items, then when we were checking out the nice checkout lady said, "So did you have trouble with 100 closed, or did you just come down Louisiana?" Uh, yeah! That's what I did...on the way home! I am so goofy sometimes when I forget that there is a simpler way. I always make it harder somehow.
* pause, OH SH**!
Like just now when I realized that I had a pan of brownies ready for the oven on the counter and for sure the oven is pre-heated after 15 minutes or so! I am making a recipe I found on Simondelivers in honor of Halloween. Enjoy! I will let you know how they turn out later.
Brownies with caramel are baked in a round pan, frosted, and decorated to look like a spider web. Halloween fun!
SERVES: 12 <-yeah, right, twelve.
PREP TIME: 5 Minutes
COOK TIME: 30 Minutes
Ingredients
1 package Brownie Mix for an 8 or 9 inch pan1 tub White FrostingBlack Decorating Gel - or - 1/4 cup Chocolate Frosting
Directions
Follow directions on box to prepare the brownies. Bake in a ROUND 8 or 9 inch pan instead of a square one. Cool.
Remove brownie from pan and place on serving plate. Frost with your choice of white frosting.
Make a spiral of decorating gel or chocolate frosting onto the white frosting. Note: If using chocolate frosting, put into one corner of a ziptop bag. Snip the very, very end of the bag to create a piping bag.
Pull a toothpick through the spiral from the middle to the outer edges about every inch or two to make the spider web. Serve with a cold glass of milk and other Halloween Treats.
