I did not like the capture...it was more like torture.

Thursday, July 13, 2017

I need a prompt today...

Oh yeah, it's THURSDAY!!! Welcome.

The Prompts for Thursday, July 13, 2017:
1. List 7 things you’d rather be doing this summer.
2. Describe a hobby you would pursue if you had an additional hour to spend each day.
3. Write a blog post inspired by the word: celebrate
4. Book review!
5. Your summer vs. Your kids summer
I was going to write about My Summer vs. My Kid's Summer, but both have been pretty great.  I turned 50 and went to wine country with my girlfriends and tasted delicious wine - ate delicious food and pretty much rocked that birthday.  And Boo Boo La La went to her first overnight camp, is learning ukulele and is participating in general merriment at her summer program.

I also got to go to Duluth with T-bone and Boo Boo which was way relaxing even if we were in a waterpark hotel.

And your summer is _______________?

So I decided to write a 4. Book Review! because I FINALLY FINISHED THIS DARN BOOK I HAVE BEEN READING FOR NEARLY A YEAR.  Ugh.

I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith

Last year I got a summer reading list and - uh, let's say I hope they fired the person who curated that list.

This book was a slug fest for me to complete. I found the characters irritating and their behavior kind of stupid. But perhaps that is because it is all written by Dodie Smith when she was in her early fifties, but the voice of the book, the main character Cassandra, is 17. I just feel it wasn't right. Somehow what Cassandra "captured" in her writing about what was going on just was silly and boring.

So yeah.

Do not read it.  Really, just walk away from the book.

Unless maybe you are 17 or a 50-year-old who thinks they are 17 again.

School Starts Next Week.

Monday, August 29, 2016

I sure hope you are having as great of a summer as we are - we spent time with family, went to a wedding in Houston, celebrated a friend earning their Karate Black Belt at TEN YEARS OF AGE!!! Went to San Diego, swam, ran around and enjoyed the general merriment of the warmer months.

School starts a week from tomorrow - so of course we have to fit in some end of summer fun!

State Fair anyone?
Cheers to that with a Grain Belt Blu - a most delicious blueberry beer! Yum.

We ate, rode, and saw cool people like Senator Amy Klobuchar!

We pet the animals - everyone but Grandma who said, "No thank you."

We bought stuff, made stuff, and showed Dad where to get something for ME! :)

And of course we rode the big slide, but got a TERRIBLE video this year.

Watch this one instead!

Happy Summer!

#RockTheGarden Recap - Or - My birthday pretty much rocked this year.

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

Sunday was a big day.

Final Round of the US Open.

Father's Day.

First Official Day of Summer.

My birthday.

Yes, it was my birthday on Father's Day. Not a typical occurrence, but it happens.

This year I decided to ask for what I really wanted.

Ticket's to Rock The Garden at the Walker Sculpture Garden!

I didn't really care who was playing, but with JD McPherson, Babes In Toyland (SCORE! Reunited Legends!) and Modest Mouse as the beef of Sunday's lineup, I was pretty stoked.

Let's get a closer look at JD McPherson.

Ahem.

I loved every minute from my bloody mary at Spasso that morning to the view of Modest Mouse that evening as the sun set over the back of my shoulder.
Mmmmmm

Ahhhhh.
But my favorite part of any event is of course....

People Watching.

I mean I learned from the best, my dad natch. He loves to sit there and watch all the loonies go by. From the local mall to the granddaddy watching place of all time The MN State Fair my dad would poke my side and point out anyone or anything cool, beautiful, funny, silly, or unusual.

He would have loved the transvestite Santa Claus who popped up dancing from a few rows in front of us Sunday night.  :) Hair in a pony and wearing RED Converse All Stars with his/her red mini-dress.

Another excellent thing at concerts are the t-shirts. People will wear ANYTHING on a t-shirt at a concert. The best were the Minnesota Themes on shirts.  My two favorites:

Now those are some good musical references!

So thank you Terry for saying YES to a concert. I love going places with you - even if you are checking your phone to see who won the Open every 30 seconds from 8:45 to the moment your sports app told you Spieth won.  :)

Love you baby!
