It always takes more

Monday, October 23, 2017

I always have these grand plans for everything I am going to accomplish.

Not just on the weekend, but any given day.

Like yesterday I imagined that I would get another shelf of my closet organized, the laundry put away, roast squash, make dinner, maybe vacuum and clean the kitchen.

This, all after church, lunch, and going to get our pumpkins for Halloween.

Ha ha ha ha.

No.

I got the squashes roasted and the kitchen clean.  Oh, and I made rice and a salad for dinner. After all that was accomplished it was after six and I was pretty much pooped.

But I spent time with my husband and my daughter - maybe she will remember the pumpkins and the frappucino and not the argument we had this morning over moving the recycling bin.

It always takes more than you have of things.  More time, more money, more energy.

I always seem to run out.

Here is to setting my goals more reasonably this week.

Happy Monday Peeps.

I did not like the capture...it was more like torture.

I need a prompt today...

Oh yeah, it's THURSDAY!!! Welcome.

The Prompts for Thursday, July 13, 2017:
1. List 7 things you’d rather be doing this summer.
2. Describe a hobby you would pursue if you had an additional hour to spend each day.
3. Write a blog post inspired by the word: celebrate
4. Book review!
5. Your summer vs. Your kids summer
I was going to write about My Summer vs. My Kid's Summer, but both have been pretty great.  I turned 50 and went to wine country with my girlfriends and tasted delicious wine - ate delicious food and pretty much rocked that birthday.  And Boo Boo La La went to her first overnight camp, is learning ukulele and is participating in general merriment at her summer program.

I also got to go to Duluth with T-bone and Boo Boo which was way relaxing even if we were in a waterpark hotel.

And your summer is _______________?

So I decided to write a 4. Book Review! because I FINALLY FINISHED THIS DARN BOOK I HAVE BEEN READING FOR NEARLY A YEAR.  Ugh.

I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith

Last year I got a summer reading list and - uh, let's say I hope they fired the person who curated that list.

This book was a slug fest for me to complete. I found the characters irritating and their behavior kind of stupid. But perhaps that is because it is all written by Dodie Smith when she was in her early fifties, but the voice of the book, the main character Cassandra, is 17. I just feel it wasn't right. Somehow what Cassandra "captured" in her writing about what was going on just was silly and boring.

So yeah.

Do not read it.  Really, just walk away from the book.

Unless maybe you are 17 or a 50-year-old who thinks they are 17 again.

I lied.

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

I am so very very sorry to have to tell you this, but you see.

I lied.

I lied like a rug.

I was so untruthful with you all that I feel the need to shower.

Really, it is HORRIBLE what I have told you - and how wrong it was to do that to you.

You see, in reality.

What I really need to get off my chest is that....

I want THIS for Valentine's Day.

I feel shame.

Forgive me.

What?  I got a enamel dutch oven for Christmas last year.  Why not?

Hello Big, Deep, Dark and Handsome.

OMG I just realized I am the worlds WORST mother. Ever.

Thursday, March 22, 2012

I came downstairs and was going to write a post about these cute suitcases I had when I was Boo Boo La La's age and looked up at the note telling us when her school conferences were....

I realized I am the WORLD'S WORST MOTHER!

Tuesday she told me Mrs. E and Mr. M were looking forward to her coming to school.  I said,

"No honey THURSDAY is your conferences."

So I thought in my head, but if I looked at the piece of paper I taped up to REMIND me when her conferences were we would have BEEN THERE TUESDAY when her conference was scheduled.

I stink.

And how about you today?  What have you done that makes you feel stupid?

I am going to offend SOMEONE I am sure.

Only Parent Chronicles

Boo Boo Saturday - Dedicated to my OTHER Baby

Saturday, September 25, 2010

This is my baby...yes those are PRINCESS stickers on her mug...
I don't know.  She is four.

My baby says THIS is my baby.
Roofis - our family kitty who really only is tolerated by some members of the family because he is KIND OF crazy...

Let us demonstrate the crazy:

This cat THINKS he wants to be outside - but when we let him out there on the deck all he does it meow and hide under the chairs...he really is one of those "I am a tough guy" on the outside "Marshmallow" on the inside guys.

Fast forward (a few days)- he is declawed so no more climbing the screen.

Fast forward (a little over a year) - Roofis figures out how to OPEN the screen door when we have the door open and now thinks it is a game to see if he can get out without us noticing...

Fast forward (about another year) - J-Dogg locks himself out of his car and does what any red-blooded American boy would do...he gets a wire hanger.  But for some reason he then chucks it into my hosta bed???  HUH? (I still do not have a straight answer WHY he did this...)

Fast forward (a week or two):  I see the wire hanger in my hosta bed and wonder how the HECK it got there - and set it on the deck to get rid of it later.  I am busy weeding after all.

Fast forward (maybe another week?):  We have a lovely day and want fresh air into the house.  All the windows and doors are open...

DANG ROOFIS!  Stop opening the screen door!!  Ugh.

What can I do to keep you from opening it...wait that hanger...huh.

If I just wedge it here like this...

Will that work?
It looks kind of "jenky" but...you know what I invented.

The Roofis Lock

at least that is what Boo Boo La La called it when T-bone forgot to put it up when he was grilling the other night and had the screen open.  :)

Roofis - He has decided to give up on that screen door...

stoopid lock

Mommy's Nest - An Update

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Thing one:  I had been noticing a lot of url's that matched the names of the blog vs. .blogspot.com and asked my favorite St. Paul/Chef/Wild Woman blogger Mrs. VonPartypants if she felt this was worth the $10 to GoDaddy.com.  Her final comment in her reply was, "I say go for it- it's only $10 and then at least no one else can have it."

Touche!

so I took my url .wordpress.com too, just in case!  And BTW if you like bloggers who dress up, talk about poop, animals, general drunkeness, food and mayhem (not necessarily in that order) and if you are impressed that you can GOOGLE "f***ing awesome chocolate chip cookies" and get the top results linking you back to HER...follow her blog please!

and the cookies?  f***ing awesome!

SO If you have a spare moment and can change the URL that guides you to me it is now...

http://www.mommysnest.com/  Go ahead, I will wait...

That was easy, right?  If you don't do it blogger will still get you here from the old url, they promised!

Thing two:  I had not written a funny story about Boo Boo La La lately...the whole point of this blog is to embarass her when she is twelve...so I am promising now to have some sort of fun story about Boo Boo La La from the recent (or not so recent) past to share each Saturday.  This will be easier since I won't have school anymore starting March 19!
Yeah Mommy will graduate with honors!  Whoo Hooo!

I have a pretty good one today.  If you like fart stories that is....you don't?  Well, you have not been here for the poop stories then, huh?

I remember it like it was Thursday morning, because it was Thursday morning.  Boo Boo and I were ready to leave and I went around the house ensuring lights were off and no dangerous articles were left burning somewhere.  I got back to where Boo Boo was in the dining room and she was leaning against the table and making funny faces...upon seeing me she said,

My butt itches, so I am trying to fart.

Hmm-mmm, farting makes it stop itching?

YES MAMA, you know THAT!  (more faces and butt sticking out)  I can't fart and my butt itches!

Maybe you will fart in the car like Daddy, come on let's go.

Okay, that might work....

Ahhh, yes.  Imagine the joy of a pre-teen Boo Boo when she hears she tried to learn to fart on command to releive butt itchiness.

I would say my work is done here for today.  Have a farty-party weekend!

Talk amongst yourselves...

Monday, May 11, 2009

I am going to Springsteen tonight...yes, I sometimes say he is "Whiney Man-Music".

HOWEVER, I hear he rocks live so I am going...
so the topic to discuss amongst yourselves is this...
There is a woman I work with who does not watch television. She does not own a television. She has no kids either, but I digress. She gets all her news from the INTERNET - she says that "Television journalism does not allow you to get the facts, it is clouded by opinion."
What do you think about that?

am I cold and heartless?

So Sair was going to Prom with her boyfriend of about nine months and he called her Wednesday night after she got home from confirmation and
BROKE UP WITH HER OVER THE PHONE???
Yes, I think that is gutless and he is a rude little pig - frankly I did not care for him much, he would slobber on her in front of us, she seemed to pay for everything and he was not even one-tenth as cute as she deserved.
Her mom let her stay home from school. I did not really agree with that - he does not go to her school and it is just a boyfriend...
I said this to the T-Bone and he disagreed BIG TIME - he said, "What would she learn if she just was at school to cry all day? She was all ready for prom and everything."
Thus revealing once again that mommy is probably a big meanie.
Thoughts?
