#ThowbackThursday works for Blogs too, right? #TBT

Thursday, July 23, 2015

I saw this picture and it made me think of Boo Boo!

So you get this old blog post from March 6, 2010 when I was still a fledgling blogger.

***********************************************

Thing one:  I had been noticing a lot of url's that matched the names of the blog vs. .blogspot.com and asked my favorite St. Paul/Chef/Wild Woman blogger Mrs. VonPartypants if she felt this was worth the $10 to GoDaddy.com.  Her final comment in her reply was, "I say go for it- it's only $10 and then at least no one else can have it."

Touche!

I took my url .wordpress.com too, just in case!  And BTW if you like bloggers who dress up, talk about poop, animals, general drunkeness, food and mayhem (not necessarily in that order) and if you are impressed that you can GOOGLE "f***ing awesome chocolate chip cookies" and get the top results linking you back to HER...follow her blog please!

and the cookies?  f***ing awesome!

SO If you have a spare moment and can change the URL that guides you to me it is now...

http://www.mommysnest.com/  Go ahead, I will wait...

That was easy, right?  If you don't do it blogger will still get you here from the old url, they promised!

Thing two:  I had not written a funny story about Boo Boo La La lately...the whole point of this blog is to embarass her when she is twelve...so I am promising now to have some sort of fun story about Boo Boo La La from the recent (or not so recent) past to share each Saturday.  This will be easier since I won't have school anymore starting March 19!
Yeah Mommy will graduate with honors!  Whoo Hooo!

I have a pretty good one today.  If you like fart stories that is....you don't?  Well, you have not been here for the poop stories then, huh?

I remember it like it was Thursday morning, because it was Thursday morning.  Boo Boo and I were ready to leave and I went around the house ensuring lights were off and no dangerous articles were left burning somewhere.  I got back to where Boo Boo was in the dining room and she was leaning against the table and making funny faces...upon seeing me she said,

My butt itches, so I am trying to fart.

Hmm-mmm, farting makes it stop itching?

YES MAMA, you know THAT!  (more faces and butt sticking out)  I can't fart and my butt itches!

Maybe you will fart in the car like Daddy, come on let's go.

Okay, that might work....

Ahhh, yes.  Imagine the joy of a pre-teen Boo Boo when she hears she tried to learn to fart on command to releive butt itchiness.

I would say my work is done here for today.  Have a farty-party weekend!

Today I saw that we had "junked" the electric stapler at work (And the jumbo manual one for big stacks of paper).  I was kind of glad because the poor thing didn't really work anyway....

Then I saw the brand new one.

I used it and it "THUNKED" so loud I jumped.

Why do we need this?

I have lately started to look at some "conveniences" as being less than necessary.

  1. Hot Lather?  Why do this to yourself in the morning?  All hot and lathered up?
  2. Self-Flushing Toilets?  Just leave me alone - I am NOT done yet I just moved a bit. Jeez!
  3. Self-Dispensing Soap & Paper Towels?  Isn't this just an energy waste?

But I am sorry if it is wasteful.  You cannot have my Sonicare!

I love the little side gadget that "sanitizes" the brush head.  I giggle over the glow it makes.

What do you find unnecessary in life?

That voodoo that youdoo...

So Boo Boo La La stayed at our neighbors house for a sleep over Friday - Saturday she was BUSHED!

Like barely lifting her head - tired as a dog - and oddly running a fever.

But it went away, so we ignored it.

Sunday Morning I go to wake her up and she is running a fever AGAIN.  And because her cousins were sick last week I got worried.  I started getting ready for our day at a photo shoot and pool party - lots of packing - and a much needed shower - but was in a RUSH so we could go to urgent care as it opened and  before we needed to be anywhere else.

By the time we got to urgent care I pretty much knew she was fine and was just running her "I am tired and ate too much junk food" fever.

You know how I know.

Hey Momma?  Do you know what "doodoo" is?

Ummmm

Doodoo is animal POOP.

Okay.

Roofis doodoo, Buddy doodoo, lion doodoo, cow doodoo, all the animal poop is DOODOO.

Sure.  So do you have a headache anymore.

Nope.

- and no strep, no ear infection, NADA, just poop.  And a big ol' fart.

Cuz she is a girl, not an animal.

Poop...is always funny.

In response to Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop this week, lord help me, I asked my Bro - The Pete - to write a post.  Here it is:
________________________________________________________________

Hey there Kids- it's The Pete, brother of MommyLisa. For the remainder of this post, she will be referred to as I call her, The Sis.

Sweater Vests, Oh MY!

The picture you see is us with The Cousins. We had lots of time with them growing up- lots of playdates, picnics, movies, sleepovers, swimming and it being Minnesota of course we went sledding.

This one particular time after a rousing sledding trip- all The Cousins came back to our house. The Sis had just gotten a tape recorder for Xmas and it being the 70's, this was a big deal. We sat around for quite a long time recording silly voices and stories. When The Sis, being the oldest, tried to focus the group and was asking questions of us, One of The Cousins then began to share their sledding experience from earlier in the day. It went something like this- “I was on the big “twobagon” sled and it went really fast. When we got to the bottom we hit a big bump and I fell off and hurt my butt.(pause for giggling at the use of butt) My butt(more giggling) hurt so bad, I almost went BM.”

Now here is where I need to share a little tidbit- we had all recently learned that our parents chose to call “going poop” by it's clinical term “bowel movement” or “BM”. This was in an effort to be “clean” and not have to say “poop” then hear us repeat it and giggle. Too bad they did not realize that once we knew “BM” meant “poop”- this “clean” word was now even funnier. So back to the story-

Upon hearing “BM”- we all began to giggle. This spurred The Cousin on and they began incessantly repeating it “BM” “BM” “BM” “BM” “BM” “BM” “BM” “BM” “BM” “BM” “BM” “BM”...and finnally, “BM”. Oh to have that tape.
And this reaction to “BM” has never really left any of us and it lives on in our children. Both our kids find great humor in any word or act having to do with “poop”, “farting”, or “butts”. Both The Sis and I still, at least smirk when we hear someone else say “bowel movement” or “BM”. It just proves the saying- “poop...is always funny!” if you are not sure... just ask your kid.

Did you smell that?

So we are a family of farters.

My mother used to say to me "Ewww. You are such a piggy girl.  Who do you think is going to want to marry a girl who burps and farts all the time."

My brother one time laid down gas so horrific, in a car, with NO WAY TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS, in bumper to bumper traffic with no exit is sight that cause my father to WAKE UP from the back seat and say, "Good LORD PETE!  What died up in there???"

I have imagined my own restaurant - TOOTS! - where we serve food that makes you gassy, but is delicious, and has a special glass VSP* dining area with filters!  All kinds of fun cartoons on the walls and "Pull My Finger!" as our tagline.

But I digress.

You see I met my husband, T-bone.

He is Legen - wait for it and don't forget your Lactaid as it will be very - DAIRY! in his gasious emmissions.

And he does not discriminate to whom he farts around either - except my mom, he hardly farts around my mom.

Anysmellygashole.

T-bone relayed this small tale to me the other night.

You know when you left?  Boo Boo and I went downstairs to put away the stuff in the freezer.

Uh-huh. (not really paying attention)

Yeah, she was handing me stuff and I was putting it in the freezer, then - I let out a big fart.

(WHY is he telling me this??)

So Boo Boo paused, sniffed, then took the bag of peas that were in her hand and covered her face - told me I made a BIG STINKY FART, made faces and dramatically fell to the ground, flopping.

OMG - that is funny!

Yeah, she is a pretty funny kid.

________________________________________________

Yes, Boo Boo La La is a pretty funny kid.  Who loves her farts.

How about you?  What kind of family are you?  Farters? Or Corkers?

Let it all out.

Boo Boo Saturday with TECHNOCOLOR!

Saturday, June 26, 2010

This is Boo Boo at her best bud Mr. S's backyard, Batman, birthday party!

Miss Boo Boo was invited to the birthday party of one of her pre-k and daycare buddies Mr. S.  They have been together since they were about 6 and 11 months - she is older.  It was his fourth birthday and Mr. S is obsessed with...
BATMAN!!!!
(Mr. S's mom and I worked together, she said - "He has been obsessed with Batman for quite some time.  When will it be over? - ummm, my brother has a Batman ROOM in his house.  He is 38.)
I digress.
The cake arrived shortly after I came to pick-up my soaking wet little girl...water gun fight!  It was a cupcake Batman scene purchased at Target - with the most un-holy color of blue frosting.  Boo Boo La La went CRAZY for it as you see above...I said, "You look like you belong in Avatar!" and the party-goer's laughed, at least the grown-up attendees.  We went inside and cleaned up, without getting any blue in Mr. S's Mom's WHITE bathroom!
I thought nothing of the cupcake until Sunday morning when Boo Boo La La, once again, called me in to look at her poop!  It was turquoise.

Apparently blue frosting +  brown poo = turquoise

Enjoy your Saturday BBQ!!!

Monday Minute from the darkside...

Monday Minute

Because today - I really only have a minute. I am too crabby to devote any further time...you would get bored with my ranting I tell you!!!

  1. What drugs have you done in your life?  I really don't have an answer other than I have had several sugeries and they gave me good drugs then!
  2. A/S/L? 42 for less than 2 more months/F/Work/St. Paul ...blah!
  3. Do you pick your nose?  Of course...you ALL DO!  Liars if you said no.
  4. What's your favorite childhood cartoon?  I liked Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street the best, but they were not cartoons.  So I will go with The Flintstones...except now I think Betty and Wilma were RAGS - they did nothing but complain and go shopping.
  5. List the URL, of what you believe to be the best blog post you've ever done.  This is tough so...
Here is my favorite "snippy" post - http://www.mommysnest.com/2008/04/too-busy.html
Here is the post that explains how I come from a long line of "chicky-babes" http://www.mommysnest.com/2008/02/i-read-blog-of-this-fabulous-chefchicky.html
My favorite Boo Boo post was Saturday, I think...but the poop ones are good too - or the shameless photo blog...I really can't pick.

I love my blog and that is why I write it!

I saw True Confessions of a Single Mother's post today and was thinking about our dilema.

See this cute face.

I know, I know you have seen Boo Boo La La's cute face a lot.
The trouble we are faced with right now is that she is four.  During the day she is 100% potty trained and has been for a while, a year or so...she was a bit stubborn and wanted to potty on her terms.

We went away for New Year's like usual - Miss K, who Boo Boo La La adores and is younger by almost two months, does not wear pull-ups to bed.  Boo Boo still did.

About a week later - the day after her 4th Birthday Party - she said.  "Mama, I am four now and I don't need to wear pull-ups to bed any more.  Miss K doesn't!"  Okay---well, you are usually dry in the morning.  Let's give it a go.

About one month later and after three crying pee pee bed wetting jags in two nights we had enough.

Mama and Daddy made Boo Boo put the pull-ups back on.  But, how do we get out of them?
  1. She sleeps like a ROCK.  Nothing wakes her up short of the apocolypse.
  2. She feels bad now, we are telling her she still needs to get up and go potty but the pull-up is just so she is not wet if she has an accident.  That it is not a big deal, she is STILL a big girl!
I was thinking of getting a calendar for her to put stars on for every morning her pull up is dry.

Do you think that will help?  Or hurt?  (because of the mornings she gets no sticker...I don't want her to feel bad if she has an accident...)

HELP!

Even Cowgirls Get The Blues...

I am so strange - what makes me cry is the oddest stuff.  Exhibit A - Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
There are several parts of this movie that make me BALL like a gigantic baby.

Then there is this new one that has me sobbing each time I see the first ten minutes or so...

Have you seen it yet?  If you are anything like me have a box of kleenex...
It just breaks me up and I get to a point where I am so freaking sad!

Then last night after my daughter asked me to watch this movie for about the ump-teenth time she aske me to help her go potty.
We are at a cabin and so I kind of understood.
When we get in there she says..."I have to go poopy."
Great, I will be out in the living room...
"NO!  Stay here with me.  You know mama, if you eat too much food you poop and pee."
Uh-huh.
"Help me get this poopy out.  Push on my belly...not hard though."
That will help?
"Yes, just push it right there on my belly button."
Right...
"Mama, the poopies float, they like to swim."
They do?
"Yes, they swim in the potty; just like people!"
Ewww.
"Just kidding, people don't swim in the potty.  Mice swim in the potty and then you flush them down the drain...THAT'S GROSS, huh?"
Yes.  But now I am not sad from the movie any more baby.
Thanks.

Poor Boo Boo...reposted from 6/25/08

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

Because my darling daughter turns FOUR on Saturday - I am reposting a few posts about her - they are pretty much from when I had 2 followers...

My Boo Boo La La is full of poo-poo.

NO, she is not lying to us. She is actually full of POOP - that won't come out!

Her daycare provider was telling me she had been having really runny poo's. In fact, coming out the diaper one day. Then Sunday she cried and cried and cried because she had constipation and I had to rub her back and encourage her to poo.

So, off to the doctor we went.

He felt her belly and said - "Hmmm, that is some ropey intestine in there." It is a good thing that doctor is so darn cute!

Anywhoo! She now has to take Miralax every day and get "oatmeal poop" - yes her doctor is that colorful.

Now, she has had no poop of any kind for three days! I am getting nervous.

A Gory Little Story.

When we were up north at our timeshare we had the opportunity to use the pontoon of one of my husband's friends to cruise Cross Lake and the Whitefish Chain.

There was a lovely island in the lake that we decided would be perfect for a swim and lunch. So we headed over and unloaded all our stuff and played in the water and on the beach.

Very soon Boo Boo La La said, "Momma, I gotta pee pee."

"Go in the lake honey - that is what you do."
"I can pee in the lake?"
"Yup, but not the pool. Got it?"
"Okay!!!!"

She runs out into the water and hollars out to her sister, "SAIR!!! I am going pee pee."
Sair looked up from her book and called back from the pontoon. "And THAT is why I am not swimming in the lake." (she never swims anymore! not even at the waterslide pool!)

We have lunch and continue to enjoy our little island - it's the middle of the week and we pretty much have the lake to ourselves - suddenly Boo Boo La La exclaims, "Momma, I gotta POOP!"

uhhhhhh

"Okay, come with me." We walk around the side of the island that does not have the beach and well...I held my little munchkin up so she could squat and do her 'bidness. And I brought wipes so we would not have issues....with torn tissues. :)

She came back to the family and proudly beamed, "I POOPED!" and boy did she EVER poop.

She even CONFESSED!!! dum dum dum

Grand Re-Opening!!!! Thanks Burg! You rock hard.

Friday, September 5, 2008

Thanks to a GROOVY contest last month I got a makeover!!!
And there were no visits from Clinton & Stacy, or Ty Pennington, or even a single gay man trying to get me to love my body - or wear better clothing!
Nothing happened except they picked MEMEMEMEMEMEME!!! and it is all about ME, isn't it?
Please enjoy the music we have selected for our wonderful grand re-opening. Yo Gabba Gabba - and probably only the sweet Faux Martha will recognize the band!
Play it loud tonight while the guys stink up your house playing poker and drinking beers!

And now ladies and gentleman, readers of all ages, the grand re-opening grand finale!!!!
I was told, "I'm afraid that if you don't post the poo picture, Becki and I will have to come and pelt you with olives on behalf of the BlogMommas community!"

The story behind this is that Boo Boo La La had been having trouble - she came in the kitchen and asked to get naked (normal two year old behavior, trust me). The next thing I knew she said, "MOM! COME LOOK! I POOPED!!!" and then she asked Daddy to come look, then Jake-y, then Sair, then Sair's boyfriend - he declined - and everyone told her it was the best poop ever!
Boo Boo said, "MOM, we better take a picture."

So we did.

You have now been BURGED at Mommy's New Nest. Enjoy the rest of your day.

The BIG POO! Take a whiff.

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

For those of you who are easily offended, do not have children, or whatever, I apologize in advance for the photo you are viewing at my blog today.

My daughter took a poo.

My hubby and sweet Boo Boo La La went in the bathroom the other night and I heard him talking to her about the potty...mumble mumble muble....and was wondering what they were up to when T-bone's head popped out of the bathroom asking if I could bring some wipes....
"Marin pooped!", he said smiling, "Get the camera!"

And I did.
